BM might move

Okay so my wedding is 11/15/08. BM emailed me today and said that oh my gosh she has news. She's been dating a guy for quite some time and this was over email, so I said, "Getting hitched?"

"Nope, but good guess."

Hmmm. "Shacking up?"

Apparently he is in process of moving from California to Philly and has asked her to consider going with him and we're talking OH MY GOSH SOON.

So I thought to myself, "Oh holy cow, I could have an absolute bridezilla moment here! Like is she going to bail on my wedding? WTF? How could she so close to the date?"  OHMYGOSH!!! AAAHHH!!!

But... I didn't. I thought, "Oh wow, I know how much she really feels for this guy and he could be The One and her family lives in Wisconsin / Minnesota anyways, and what is one day in my life isn't life altering for her, but possibly moving is and I am so happy for her!!!"

So then we had this funny, anti-bridezilla moment of her telling me how important my day is and how she wouldn't miss it for the world and I was thinking, "Bummer she already had to pay for her dress if she can't make it. At least it was on clearance." After all I wouldn't expect her to put her life on hold just because its my wedding day.

It was just such a funny moment, and opposite of what I see on some postings on here, I just wanted to share that. Whatever happens, happens. I just love her and want her to be happy. And hey, my future in-laws live in Greencastle, which is in the same state so I can visit her.

But onto the planning, I haven't done any recent progress posts because I don't have a lot to show from the 6 month post I did before. My big A HA! postings were about the flowers from fleuspermail. (Or however they spell it.)

I'm still a little worried about having a laptop / iTunes wedding, but we'll figure it out. My main concern right now is finding music for the girls to walk to (and having a backup time-wise if we are short a girl) - I will be walking to Billy Joel's "She's Got a Way" (About Her).

** Would it be weird to have classical music and then break into a Billy Joel song complete with singing lyrics? Or should I pick a "singing song" for the girls too?

We are debating a first dance to Footloose (since it will be all 80's anyways) but we really need to learn to dance and have two left feet and since we aren't going to be doing ballroom dancing, I don't know that there are any affordable ways to take a class on how to put something together to Footloose. All we know is it would be funny as hell because everyone is going to expect something sappy. We have the YouTube clip from the movie as well as a funny one of two guys doing a simple dance to it that we might be able to copy somehow. We don't have a videographer, but since we are going to have a video camera there, I will make sure that someone gets this on video to scare / blackmail our kids in the future.

We have our seal and send invites, and I scrapped the idea of including a map. Most people are locals and all are capable of running mapquest if they aren't. My parents are the only ones who don't know how to use a computer, but they know how to get there and we included our wedding website in the invitation. I have 75% of the list in excel (and BLESS YOU to the bride-to-be who suggested numbering the RSVP cards, that is PERFECT!) and am debating running off labels or actually forcing my MOH into her first MOH duty of helping me address them. I really loved the maps I've seen on here, but after a frustrating evening of cussing at weddingmapper.com and Adobe and Word, FH and I looked at each other and at the same time said, "Who really needs a map?" That ended that frustration.

Still gotta get the tuxes figured out and buy toasting flutes, but most of the big stuff is done and we're not that artsy like everyone else on here seems to be. (Insert envy here) I think our theme should be changed to "80's and easygoing-bordering-on-lazy." My original theme was "Autumn", LOL. Thank you for reading this far and any advice on the music / dancing would be appreciated.
