Not mine!! My FH and I attended a friend's wedding & reception this weekend, and I noted a few things for future reference, as it were...
1. Make sure your DJ tries out his sound equipment BEFORE the reception starts! 5 minutes of squealing feedback and 'adjustments' as the speeches were supposed to be going on is not a good way to start the reception.
1b. If it's possible to give your DJ a playlist, for heavens' sake do it. This guy started out with the Electric Slide, went on to some weird crappy 70s songs that nobody knew, a few country songs, and then right on to weird 80s stuff. Almost noone danced except for the (very drunk) bridal party and parents of small kids to keep them (the kids) busy.
1c. Make sure that someone knows how to work your video equipment or projectors! Nobody knew how to start the projector for a slide show the bride and groom had made; finally a tech-savvy waitress came out to help.
2. Nobody seemed to care if people wore black - a good quarter of the ladies at the reception had gone the 'little black dress' route, thankfully (I originally wore brown, but had enough time to go home and change into a more comfortable dress).
3. Please, please don't leave FIVE AND A HALF HOURS between the ceremony and reception!!
EDIT: 4. The photobooth & photobooth guestbook was sheer genius. People had more fun with that thing, I swear! And we got some good pics out of it, too :D They had a table set up next to the booth, and a very nice girl from the photobooth company explaining that we should please make a scrapbook page for the bride & groom with 2 of the pictures, and we could keep the other two. They had stickers, silver & gold markets that looked great on the black scrapbook paper, lots of fun stuff :)
