last weekend's progress

Jan 28, 2008 23:11

we got the trolleys reserved before the weekend. very relieved.

i have a photographer. hurrah.

her name is amy anders, and you can see a wedding she did here. they're not phenomenalamazingomgbesteverinthewholeworld, but they're crisp and well exposed and real. i will not be having any of the fancy editing. she's a pro, but not yet a pro "wedding" photographer. she's done a few weddings for friends, and hasn't decided what she wants to specialize in yet. as such, and along with her not quite being satisfied with the quality of her pictures, she feels that charging anyone professional prices would be ripping them off. we have full day-of coverage and digital negatives for $400.

she's really nice and she seemed really excited to work with us and our style. she was also understanding with my once-bitten nerves. she came with two copies of a contract and we filled it out on the spot and have our copy in hand. we're sending her a $100 deposit, giving her $100 before the wedding, and $200 after receipt of the pictures. if anything happens and she can't make it, we get our money back. i'm very pleased. but i hope nothing happens. i'm looking forward to working with her.

we got the rentals. they were ridiculous. i don't want to talk about it. but i got my benches. so i have flexible seating. hurrah.

most of our invitations have arrived. we've gotten some rsvps, both yes and no. and my friend the chef got back to me about menus. he's in town, so my mom and he will be meeting to figure stuff out. i'm so glad he's going to be able to make it. but he planned a menu that was way too complicated and way too fancy. but we'll work it out.

my grandfather has agreed to be my second escort, along with my mother. we also worked out the walking so it will be easiest for him. yay. unfortunately, he won't be wearing his uniform. oh well. i'm just glad to have him. i wish i had my daddy

some of my brooches arrived for all the girls' hair, but the rest were out of stock and i'll have to reorder them in a couple weeks. the girls' gifts came and they look great. also, my blue diamond nose ring came. it's so tiny and pretty.

i went by the reception venue and measured it. so i know what to do with it. we rethought some decor. i still need to get back in touch with my musicians. i also need to get my stupid adviser to change my I from last spring.

and my mom finished the blank for the bodice of my dress. we got it fitted right (i'm an 18/10/12/8, lol) and it's perfect. next week we'll get the fabric, and then we can start on the real thing.

we also went and talked to the restaurant we're gonna have our rehearsal dinner at. they're going to set us up in the bar room, because it's separated. it will be at cost. since it's 15 people, about, it'll only cost my fiance's parents about $300. they will be pleased.

but without further ado or off-topic rant, we got our rings. i know some of you have been looking forward to seeing these.

his is tungsten, mine are white gold. the pattern in his is reminiscent of the different rings in mine. i'm pleased, he's please, they were $800 total, and the villagers rejoiced. note. the little bands were too small because i forgot about the multiple rings issue. so they moved them up a bit right then. if you'll remember, they had ordered my engagement ring a size too small by accident and had it resized and fixed within the hour. if you're in pensacola, go to the jeweler's trade shop. they'll take good care of you. i can't recommend them enough.
