major progress!
In the last couple days, I have managed to cross a LOT off of our list of last minute to-dos [only 24 days left to do the rest!]. The wedding is on the outskirts of New Orleans, but FH and I are now living 2 hours away. So I made the journey in today to wrap up some things.
I picked up our wedding bands! If you live in/around the NOLA area, I HIGHLY recommend Aucoin Hart Jewelers. We got my engagement ring there last July, and the same guy who sold us the engagement ring was the one who helped us look for wedding bands just a few weeks ago, and he remembered us! He took my ring from me to get it cleaned while we waited, and he said, "Didn't I sell you this ring?" The people there are extremely helpful, and they don't make you feel like they're trying to shove jewelery in your hands and take your money like we felt at some of the other places we shopped for engagement rings. Plus, the rings are just gorgeous!
Then I went by the AAA office to pick up our honeymoon package. Disney World, here we come! I'm super excited. We're doing four days at Disney and staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter [we thought it might be fun to have a little bit of home with us on our honeymoon ;-)], followed by two days at Universal/Islands of Adventure with a stay at the Royal Pacific. So we got our luggage tags for the Express shuttle from the airport to the Port Orleans, as well as our itinerary and our vouchers for Planet Hollywood and other fun stuff.
And finally, I went to David's Bridal and picked up my dress! After alterations, it fit perfectly. And after hearing so many DB horror stories, I was very pleasantly surprised with the experience. There were a couple areas I noticed that hadn't been repaired while they had the dress for alterations, but I pointed them out to the lady and she replaced the beads right then and there. So now I just can't let the FH see it! :-)
Plus as a bonus, I came home to find our personalized M&Ms on the front porch, and they weren't melted a bit! The rest of the supplies for the favors have been ordered off of ebay and they should be arriving soon.
So yes. Fun filled wedding planning kind of day. :-)
