I've officially applied to Vanderbilt, only to learn that they don't let Master's students teach classes, only Ph.D peeps can do that. Which sucks, cause Vanderbilt is kind of my top choice, and I was really hoping for a T.A. position. Their financial aid page was unpleasantly misleading.
But, I still have 3 other places to which I must finish applying.
I'm horribly sick and congested and can't afford to take any more sick days, since I took a week off at the beginning of the month and am taking next Monday off to go help my mom with some legal stuff. It's miserable being miserable, but even more miserable to be miserable all day in front of a class full of hooligans. Did I spell that right? Anyway, we may be watching movies this week. Actually, we're reading The Odyssey, so we were going to watch the movie anyway. We may just watch it a little sooner than planned.
So life is slowly getting back to normal. I still have some really bad days -- really just hours, usually. Like at night, for some reason. Especially if the husband doesn't come to bed at the same time I do. I don't know how my mom is making it like she is. I'm definitely impressed with her strength. But I guess she has to for the three little boys at home. I think I will still call them the three little boys when they're all in their 20's.
The aftermath is difficult, though. Like having to fax a copy of the death certificate to various places, close out of his email accounts, get car tags changed to my mom's name, pick out a headstone.
But we're making it. I definitely appreciate family all the more now.
Anderson's mom brought me some turkey gumbo for dinner cause I'm sick. So delicious. Now all I have to do is make rice. And Anderson gassed up my car for me so I don't have to worry about that in the morning, in the (most likely) rain and cold. Man, do I hate the getting up early.
I've been reminiscing a lot lately, looking at a lot of pictures. I miss all the people that I haven't seen in forever. Which pretty much includes all of you who might be reading this. Remember the good ol' days??
