So I just learned about something called Proposition 8, which could possibly ban gay marriage in California. I feel kind of like I should have heard about this a while ago and that I am significantly behind on my current events. I am just so upset over Proposition 8 that I don't even know what to do with myself. Apparently polls have it at about 60% in favor. If California passes this law, I might just about lose all faith in my country. I don't understand how anyone could deliberately want to pass a law that takes right away from thousands of people. Do they not understand that if it passes, thousands of families will be devastated while if it doesn't, thousands of people may be mildly upset but not actually affected? Those people are doing something hateful, making their decisions based on prejudices. I wish people still protested in the streets like they used to. I want to do something to change this, but I live so far away. Would holding a protest in the other side of the country make a difference?
