(the band, not the death & destruction)
Just in case I haven't mentioned it recently,
FreeCycle ROCKS!.
Last Sunday afternoon, someone won tickets (from
WRNR) to see
War in concert at the Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis... but they couldn't go. So they posted this tidbit to the Columbia Freecycle group, saying that the best story as to why someone should get the tickets would get them. Next morning, I checked my email and saw... and replied.
However, it was not to be. She'd picked a sob story the night before. Sucks to be me, right?
Nope! Apparently the sob story bailed and they became available again. YAY! I get to see War!!
So I asked
dave_lister if he wanted to go. Answer: sure! Fast forward to Wednesday night... late Wednesday night. Lister bails. Booo hiss!!!
So I spent far too much of my day today hoping that one of the small number of emails that I sent out would bear fruit. But at 5:30 this evening, it was still looking like I was going to the concert stag. However, a last minute phone call to Monty/Lori and... HUZZAH! Monty could go!!
So we met downtown and walked in together. Note to self... next time the Rams Head advertises a 6pm show, don't break sound barrier to get there on time... 6:30 is plenty of time.
But when the lights went down and the band came out, it was VERY cool. The playlist was:
(Warmup medly)
Outta Sight
Spill the WineMe and Baby BrotherThe Cisco KidSoWhy Can't We Be Friends?Low Rider Then several snippets... including "Wanna Take You Higher", a brief bit of "Iron Man" and a host of others...
twas a rockin' show and I'm glad I went.
I heard Low Rider in concert... from the guy who wrote it... and was only 30' away!!
