Clusters

After playing with MindMap and looking at some of my old work on social network modelling, I think I've come up with an idea for a next step in MindMap: cluster mapping.

A "cluster" would be any group of people who are all mutual friends. If I understand MindMap correctly. this would correspond to any given user's "tier 1" network. Clusters are linked to other clusters via the non-exclusive relationships.

For example, take six people: A, B, C, D, E, and F. A, B, and C are all mutual friends, so they represent one cluster. D, E, and F are all mutual friends, so they represent a second cluster.

If A is D's friend, that would link the clusters.
If A is D's friend AND E's friend, that would link the clusters more strongly.

The number of non-mutual links between clusters would provide a way quantify the strength of the links, thus providing a way to visually map clusters. What do you think?

When you get your head around THAT, we can starting talking about superclusters. :)
