Hello everyone. As I promised before, I have been doing extremely important last minute stuff: namely, going to Disneyland for a family vacation. Though there were hiccups as always, it was still pretty fun since it's Disneyland.
I'm actually looking forward to going back...have a lot of catching up to do with my Canadian pals. And to parade all my awesome stuff purchased here - see the moths nesting in my wallet.
That being said, I have some exciting things to report!
...Okay, it's not that exciting. But I submitted two of my HK headcanons to the
East Asian Headcanon Tumblr and they got image-ised. Heeheehee!
(I'm really glad this works now, since LJ froze my Firefox on me last time and it was a bitch getting everything back up again. It's still being a bitch about that LJ cut - what is WRONG with this website right now??)
I also like to think that when he was younger, he was always one of the children in the floats. Being the anthropomorphic personification of a physical region and its culture can/should have its perks!!
Really! That IS the facial norm for Hong Kong people. Mir and I have a term for this - the "Hong Kong face." Example:
Mir: I think there was a dead guy on the MTR today...
Me: HOLY SHI-seriously?? Where?
Mir: On the platform at Mongkok. There were policemen and MTR guys standing all around him. I was on the train.
Me: Whoa. But what if he was just sleeping?
Mir: I don't think so. They were shaking him pretty hard.
/thoughtful pause in conversation/
Mir: They were all looking at him with the Hong Kong face. And I was too.
In Hong Kong, when you are in public, you act as if you don't see the people surrounding you unless you know them. You just stare into space and nothing exists but your own thoughts and wherever you're going. Even when the woman behind you's shoulder is digging into your back, and you are close enough to that guy to count the teeth on his backpack's zipper, they're not breaching protocol as long as they ignore you and stay silent. And vice versa. The code is to keep to yourself and not react to anything whatsoever.
(But, if you DO cause a scene in public...rest assured someone WILL capture it on video and it will be on Youtube HK in a few hours.)
Anyway, let's go to the challenge =D
DAY 25 - CHARACTER WHO WOULD BE IN YOUR BAND
Though I once again am disappointed I have to reuse characters, I must say Spain! In fanon he seems to be very musically talented which obviously is an asset, but his laid back nature would definitely be easy to get along with. As I said before, I think we have a lot in common. And I'm pretty sure I might get kind of bossy and high-strung at some points if I were in a band, so I'd need someone chill to counter me out.
