There was a moment where she chose to let it go. Where she realized that she couldn't be the owner of the stupidity that someone else cherished. She said it out loud, "I didn't do a damn thing wrong. I was honest to him and true to myself. He was the one who had a problem, but fucked me anyway." The cats purred enthusiastically as they coiled around her ankles.

The demon, for once, did not laugh. She considered the place in her soul where it was nestled, and told it, softly, "I won't pay their price."
