I do not know. They were not, and then they were.

It is an annoyance, but a minor one considering.

You have them, too?

I'd feel a bit better knowing what they mean, though. They've got a bit of a sad feel to them to me.

Yes. I have not been able to count. They move quickly.

Observing them [pause] it makes me uneasy.

Right. I guess they would. I think I like fireflies more when they're just, well, doing their thing. Fisher Isle had some last summer.

I feel like they mean something I should remember.

I remember. I suppose that glowing insects or analogues to them are a common occurrence across the worlds.

You are thinking of [pause. Non-explicit referral to lanterns...] lights in the darkness?

Those, too. But I think they have to do with dead people. Maybe something from my home world? It has that familiar blurry feel, at least.

Perhaps it is so. Are they sensitive to the dead?

Maybe. Or they show up when someone dies? That doesn't sound right. People die at every time of the year, not just in the summer.

Do they only live in the summer? I cannot recall seeing such in other seasons.

Fireflies only live in the summer, I'm pretty sure.
