I'm posting this very bravely... because I know that most people will disagree...
I am absolutely SICK of people chickening out of things for the wrong reasons.
Most people know that Ms. Mack wont be at Weaver next year, and Mr. Taylor will basically be taking over. Also, we're getting a new principal.
This news is devastating and dooming... We will never be the same... Mack provided a unique sense of creativity, skill, insight, and compassion... She was an amazing teacher and a brilliant director. Ms. Brady was a tough, reliable, determined, ambitious, active, committed principal... she is truly unique.
But the lack of these wonderful people does NOT give ANYONE permission to give up.
Did you come to Weaver in hopes of an awesome school? OR BECAUSE YOU'RE COMMITTED TO YOUR ART?
You went against the grain, took a risk, maybe even upset your family to come to Weaver... and you're going to be stubborn and give up all because you don't like the new authority figures?! How selfish and childish!
How dare you call yourself an artist when you're only going to work if it's in luxury?
Mack and Brady were luxuries. Not necessities.
Yeah, I have beef with Taylor too. There are things he does that I disagree with... but for the most part, the only things wrong with him is the fact that he's a big show-off, and he demands to do things his way... but if you think about it, that second part isn't really a problem, is it?
How often do directors allow you to give comments? NOT MUCH. Mack did, but that's her style. It worked for her. Taylor can put on an AMAZING show just by himself. Did you even SEE the Anatomy of Grey?
Call him out when he's inappropriate, but don't REFUSE to do your art, your LIFE FORCE, just because he's directing and you can't laugh about something as easily as you could with Mack...
If you REALLY loved your art, you'd accept the challenges.
I don't know about you, but I'm going to accept the challenges. I'm probably going to get better parts because all of you snobs wont be auditioning... and it'll look great on my resume.
You know if I'm talking to you. I love you all dearly, and I wouldn't say this if I didn't.
Hollah.
PS: Sabrina, this is in NO WAY directed towards you, lol. I didn't post this because of your post, I just feel very passionate about this... I promise I have nothing against you. :)
