Fact: I have a poor poker face and I'm blunt as a matchstick.
Fact: This has caused me trouble in the past.
Fact: It also means I speak my mind in positive ways as well. If I give a compliment, you can be sure that it isn't couched in anything. If I like someone, they probably know it. And, I told 2 people last night that I missed them after not seeing them for a period of time. I found out that this really means something to people.
In short, take a moment to tell someone you miss them. It's needed.
