As was mentioned in my
previous post, I put a lot of trust in my participating (and doing well enough) in the Quincy tournament to become a triple-crown state champion. Although I did the math, there were a few known unknowns.
Those unknowns become slowly clearer during the next couple of weeks as the points from the other tourneys posted. Late last week, the St. Paul tournament points were posted, and they showed me in better shape than I expected. So I waited...
Yesterday, the points from the Quincy tourney were in my profile but not in the main standings page. Experience has taught me the points post to the profiles about a day before they become publicly known. That day was today. And, although these results are not the "final final" results, it does look likely that, although my calculations were a little off, they were off in the right way, so that I have an outright claim to all three events - form, sparring, and weapons.
I feel great, yeah, not only because I won, but because my quickly-conceived and -executed plan to go to the Quincy tourney worked. As a famous military person frequently said, "I love it when a plan comes together." I feel a little bad for the other two people, who thought they had either an outright claim to the title or at least a share, and now they have none. I'm sure I'll get an earful from them at the next tourney we're at. But if you know how to play the system, you can work it to your advantage, eh?
