Writing is always so closely tied to anxiety, I think. What comes before the writing, what happens during the writing, and what's left after the writing is done-- I feel like all of it is about anxiety! Why do you hate Spain. :( WHO DO YOU SUPPORT. You cannot hold the faults of La Liga against the NT though! They are separate entities, otherwise England would not suck as much as it does.

I don't hate them! I really don't! It is just... I mean... their playing at the WC... it was like watching the cold dead remains of a beautiful fire. Still pretty, but-- like an old man waiting for his death, muttering MIDFIELD, MIDFIELD under his breath--

haha oh my god you didn't know me during the WC but if you ever get incredibly bored and go through my entries in June/July - I spent every Spain match in total nervous agony. (And at least Torres is making goals now. Better late than never, I guess.)

...it cannot be worse than watching Liverpool play right now though. /clutches at heart

RAFA WON 7-5 6-3 6-4 YAY, INTO THE US OPEN SF FOR THE 3RD STRAIGHT YEAR. \o/ Also, no, not watching football right now but I mean watching them this season is just painful. Why couldn't I have gotten into them in 2005 when they were winning things? Or in the 80s? Sigh, my timing is always off, but at least no one can accuse of being a bandwagon fan?

WHO DID YOU SUPPORT IN THE WC. :( If you were pulling for the Netherlands, I WILL JUDGE YOU AND LEAVE YOU.

Not the Netherlands! Their style was also-- well, it was not as disappointing as Spain, because I didn't expect from them what I expected from Spain, but... it was not pleasing! I used to hate Germany to tiny bits and pieces, but that did a complete 180 this year. Also... in addition to Germany, I am a patriot, so... obviously there was that...

oh good we can still be friends. Though I don't hate Holland unequivocally, the final was messy and dirty on both sides, but I will never forgive de Jong for that kick to Xabi's chest. >:(

GERMANY WAS AMAZING. I'm watching a Bayern Munich match this weekend (on tv/online...) maybe? So many of the NT players are on Munich. And SK did well to get where they did! :D 2014 WC TOO FAR AWAY.

But IT'S TRUE. I may not have so much love for the entity of the team, but I do love the Spanish players, and I would like to cry over their wounds and touch them inappropriately.

Four whole years! Maybe the various Olympics will tide us over!
