people in our marching/concert band are idiots. there's only 42 of us TOTAL. drumline, drum major, everyone. we were working on marching in a damn block this morning and some seniors STILL have not gotten the concept of 8 to 5. and what do the rest of have to do? mark time hut, march off, get yelled at for doing it wrong the millionth time that morning.
it's not like we can just chuck people out of the band, however much they're slowing us down and fucking things up. if it were possible, our size would have already been halved. and no freshmen would remain. the flute section leader won't even play anymore because she's "fed up" with everyone. excuse us for coming to practice. then there's those who think marching is above them and saunter across the field with no clear purpose, to hell with yardlines. and then we all get yelled at because they're not marching, and therefore slowing us down and making me nearly run someone over, trying to keep four-step spacing.
people need to learn right and left, 1, 2, 3, 4, left face, halt, and rolloff. if you can't get those concepts, you don't deserve to be in band. no one cares about your credits. leave band, because we don't need ignorant morons.
so yeah, i understand completely where you're coming from.

Our flute section leader is our drum major.
She got so pissed, she sat down and gave up giving directions.
Band director comes out and its HULK SMASH!
People don't know how to march in step or even on the beat for that matter.
One of our sousa players, marches like a male pregnant hobo, its whorrifying.
None of the freshmen have pride in the band, they just use it as an excuse to get out of academic classes and don't want to put forth any enthusiasm in the program, so we suck there.
EVERYONE FUCKING TALKS WHEN THEY'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO.
I swear, the only thing stopping them from talking while playing is the instrument in their mouth.
As soon as it comes out, they burst with talking, it disgusts me how much they piss of the director.
No one ever counts,
No one knows when to shut up.
I mean, by god, there's just a certain line when it's too far.
I'm about ready to beat everyone's face in with a fucking stand.

the sousa/tuba player we have is also low brass section leader, and a lot of the time, you can catch him at games with his hat over his groin and pelvic thrusting. and then he goes ahead and just stands there with no clear purpose when called to attention, and talks while MARCHING. holy fuck, if it weren't for the fact that i'd get in major shit, i'd smack them all with a stand every time i hear "what are we playing? when do we halt?". no. we just fucking went over it.
and you know it's bad when my section leader says that she's almost ashamed to be seen marching with these people, because she would die for band before giving up on it. when people can't hit a white line that's five inches thick every eight steps, we're doomed. the director has already yelled at us several times and even duked it out on the officers - and what's changed? nothing what so fucking ever. it's still beyond me how you can just sort of walk, and not even in TIME, and play your instrument. it makes me wonder.
they should make mutes for the idiots who just won't shut up. there's two freshmen in our band who have to comment on EVERYTHING. i threw something at one of them, and didn't even get in trouble for it. that's really strange, but then again, they're annoying as hell. some of the freshmen i love [namely the three new clarinet girls, two of the bass drummers, and the new flute guy], but the rest are just morons. the trumpets, if their section leader leaves, our section leader has to take his flip folder and play their parts. it's so pathetic. and we get all quiet so you can hear them, too, yet they won't play. i want to take their damn trumpets and shove them up their asses. they'll probably do better there.
