I acquired this thing for a reason, so I might as well use it. Besides, it seems to me that owls have gone out of fashion. They certainly seem to be coming less frequently than they used to, especially from my boys. It WOULD be nice to hear how they're doing every so often, but I suppose if they want to leave their mother - the woman who spent the majority of her years teaching them, loving them, raising them - in the dark about their lives, that's up to them.
That should be enough of a guilt trip to get at least a little notice from each of them that's better than 'I'm fine, Mum!' while yanking their heads back through the floo.
It's hard to believe all of my children are grown and out of the house. It's so quiet around here, especially when Arthur's at work. Gives me far too much time to dwell on thoughts that I would rather not.
My Percy... Gone. The only solace I can take is that he's with his Penny. I know he wouldn't have been truly happy without her, just like I wouldn't be if anything happened to Arthur. I miss him so terribly. At least, before, their was a chance of his returning to me. But now... No, I don't need to think about this again. I don't need to start blaming myself again. What has happened has happened, and I have to move on. Now, he's gone, and I'll never see him again. My sweet baby boy... Why did you have to be so stubborn?
The garden needs tending. Need to start cleaning away the dead foliage if I wanted to be prepared for the spring planting season. And the sooner I start clearing away those pesky gnomes, the less I'll have to work to shoo them when I'm actually putting in the plants. No strong backs to help me this year. I'm certainly not going to let Arthur throw out his trying.
