For my Mass Comm class, we had to go see a new movie in theatres. Then, we have to find 2 movie reviews and also write our own. So, I went w/ Blaire to see Nights in Rodanthe. I am a HUGE Nicholas Sparks fan. I read this book several years ago. For the most part, I remember it. I had considered reading it again. But, I was telling Blaire about my assignment and was rattling off a few movies and she was like "I'll go with you to see Nights in Rodanthe!!" It started out kind of slow, but if I remember right, so does the book. Going into this, I knew this wouldn't be as good as The Notebook, but all of his other book-turned-movies have been good. The last part of the film redeems the entire movie. As with all Nicholas Sparks books, something big happens. I remembered what it was when I saw the trailer and I thought "I'm going to cry." Well, I did cry...just not at that part. But, once I did start, I couldn't stop! There were nine others in the theater and they were crying too. Well, I don't know if the guy in the back was, but after it was over, I saw him hugging the lady he was with. But, the man in front of us cried. The girls 2 rows in front of us opened a pack of tissues. Blaire was also crying very hard. The last part of the movie is so worth it!!!
I'm re-reading The Secret Life of Bees. I first read it a few years ago after one of my teachers at CPCC told our class about it. I loved it! I can't wait to see the movie! The cast is fantastic. I saw them on Oprah and it made me want to see it even more. I love Dakota Fanning and I think she'll be outstanding. So will Queen Latifah (love her too). I'm not sure about Alicia Keys. I think Jennifer Hudson will do well (and the recent tragedy she suffered is horrific!). I really like Paul Bettany, but he plays an awful person in this movie. :p
I can't wait for Twilight!!! One of my friends from school is planning to go with me to the midnight showing. Since it's 2 days after my b-day, she was going to take me for a b-day drink before the movie. Nikki really wants to go, but she has to be up at 6 A.M. I'm trying to convince her to go to class the 2nd half of the day. Unless I can get Friday night off, I could see if Nancy will just go then.
Speaking of my b-day, I am not really sure how I'm celebrating. On the Fri. before, Jimmy Wayne is playing at Coyote Joe's. I LOVE him! And he's the *only* celebrity that I've not been able to talk to. I have no idea why, but I could barely speak to him when I met him a few years ago. I think I'm going to try to get the next night off and do something with my friends. I don't want everyone to have to pay to see Jimmy Wayne, so I figure who ever wants to go to that with me is welcome. On my actual birthday, I think I'm doing something w/ my mom. She told me to pick a restaurant. Haven't decided where to go yet.
I bought my plane ticket for Miami!! We're flying down on 1/15 and coming back 1/22 (this will be the first time I've flown). So, we'll have most of Wed. and all day Thurs. and Fri. in Miami. On Saturday, we dock The Rock Boat!! I am SOOOO excited! There are 6 other ppl going with me. Besides me and Kenny, everyone else has been on TRB at least once. I'm disappointed that Marc Broussard and Pat McGee aren't playing next year. :( But, I am stoked to see Hanson (that's right, I said Hanson) and David Ryan Harris. They sent an e-mail with theme nights. One night is Rocky Horror Night!! HELL YES! I need to figure out what to wear...and which character to be. :)
On Tuesday, I waited in line for just over two and a half hours to vote. Blaire voted on Wed. and waited about the same length of time. My mom and sister are going on Saturday. I told them to eat before they go and to bring a book and their iPods. I wish I had! And it was really cold. ;p But, sooooo worth it to vote!!
Tonight I am going to a concert that it 18 years in the making. I am going with Nikki, Blaire, Kiley and Rayen to see...NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!!! I am so excited! I was a HUGE fan growing up, but I never got to see them live. I had everything you could possibly thing of that had NKOTB on it. I still have some of it. We will be enjoying the show from the nosebleeds. :( Oh, well.
Congrats to the Phillies for winning the World Series. I missed the last part of Game 5 (which started on Mon. and was delayed due to rain until Wed.), but it looks like it was a good few innings.
I can't stop lusting at/saving Robert Pattinson icons! I think he is a beauiful man and absolutely the right choice to play Edward Cullen. Oh, I almost forgot. I finished Breaking Dawn and I liked it. I don't know why people were hating on it. She answered everything and tied it up nicely.
