Yeah, I've ALWAYS thought that that was the reason why Tonks was so upset throughout HBP -- not because Remus supposedly wouldn't love her back (which, obviously, again, since they got married so damn quickly, was obviously not true -- he loved her and just didn't want to hurt her), but because she did love Remus and he was putting himself in so much danger, and she was just terrified at the possibility of losing him. She's too determined in a lot of what she does (case and point, the way she bolted after Remus, the last time we see her alive) to just curl up within herself and go to pieces like that over a guy not wanting to love her back. She was a very empathetic character, and I've little doubt she picked up very keenly on the way Remus thought he didn't deserve love or any of that. And that right there was reason enough to practically bully him into being with her (which yes, she did, but this IS Remus, he DOES need peer-pressure and bullying in order to allow himself even a sliver a happiness, as we see in the way the Marauders bullied him into accepting that they accepted him just the way he was).
Honestly, I do think I'll be leaving the fandom in due time now that the seventh book's out. Not immediately, but in due time. I've always said I'd stop RPGing if she killed off Remus and Tonks, although I never actually believed she would. But I am sticking to that. I really was just crushed, and I don't have it in me to play any post-DH games.
