So I'm doing REALLY well with packing so far. I've packed all of the clothes I want to bring (which is about six or seven blouses, four tank tops, five skirts, two pairs of pants, a dress, a light jacket, several scarves, tights, a hat, and dress shoes) and my suitcase is barely half full. Vacuum bags rock! Other clothes which will be packed: Underpants! Possible other shoes: Running shoes. I want to keep this habit up, and jogging will be a great way to get to know my neighborhood. Oh yeah, and I'll probably want a pair of pajama pants. Other stuff that'll have to go in the suitcase: not much, really! Books and crossword puzzles will go in my carry-on. I plan to just take travel-sized toiletries and buy full-sized ones in Spain, especially if I don't have a lot of room left when I'm done (I've heard people say they wished they'd brought American deodorant, but I'd rather fit in olfactorily with the culture). I'll have to pack a few gifts for the family -- Iowa foodstuffs, I'm thinking (Amish noodles, jam, popcorn...) I'll add other things to this list as I think of them.
So many things I have to get done before I leave --
[x] Go to the Lady Doctor (scheduled an appointment for the 29th)
[x] Go to the bank and ask about getting international withdrawal fees removed
[x] Go to Iowa Wireless and ask about getting the unlock code for my phone
[x] Buy a quality backpack, not a $15 one from Wal Mart that starts ripping two weeks into the semester
[x] Change rooms with
flautenpupie_79! It's only fair that he should get the BIG bedroom while I'm gone!
[ ] Get rid of perishable foodstuffs and rein in my kitchen space
[x] Buy extra Regal Rat and Carefresh Bedding to take to my ratsitters because that stuff is expensive. Plus new reptile lightbulb for turtle.
[ ] Make a photo album of Iowa, my family and friends
[x] Get some British pounds and Euros before I leave
[x] TAXES
I decided to take a cab between Heathrow and Gatwick. I don't care if it's expensive because it is still less expensive than how much more I'd be paying with the next cheapest ticket (where I'd have to wait in the Frankfurt airport for 11 hours). Anyway, my brother says a London cab is more like a carnival ride than a cab, and it's a thing I ought to experience. Now, if only the flight would stay on time...
