Okay - so the finale has been watched in the presence of the family...and ummm, well
Okay - so this episode.....didn't really like, in fact I kind of hated. The only thing I liked?? The end - the end scenes were great. The rest?? Uhh meh??
The whole 'one year later' felt a bit too much the last few years of SG-1 (with the evil can kick your ass enemy somehow taking AGES to do some things and barely any to do others...) it just felt a bit too, I don't know, it was just a bit annoying. It also felt like so little had happened for that year - I dunno - just bothered me a little.
I didn't mind the whole diversion thing - but we had all figured out what was going to happen before it did anyhoo - we weren't surprised by the whole 'oh noes! the professor betrayed them!' thing. It was expected.
Mini!/Gollum!Doctor - just, no *groans* I hated that - really I did - it was sooooo STUPID - *sighs*...*glares at RTD*
The battered Lucy Saxon was interesting though - with the whole - she was my companion etc thing - interesting. *nods* as was the code that the doctor, the Jones family and Jack had thought up
Utopia humans - so saw that coming *sighs* - it still makes the Futurekind a complete waste, and they could have been so interesting *pouts* - also - the whole paradox thing made it all the harder to actually like the episode, because of how stupid it was - and what is the obsession with making all these miniature icky head/people things?? (that reminded me a little too much of the Daleks...)
Not sure about the whole...how the Doctor got to 'himself' again thing - it was kinda...I don't know...
The GIANT reset button *head desk* - just don't get me started on that - really *winces* - also - I wouldn't have minded so much if time hadn't 'reversed' *shakes head* - maybe I'm too set in my sci-fi ways, in which such situations wind up with it not happening/only one person remembering (please GOD don't mention unending - I have a stick! be warned...) - but I guess if Martha's family hadn't remembered then she wouldn't have people to look after would she??
The master - it was all so pointless - that was the first thought that came to mind - they brought him back, went to all that effort, just to kill him...I did like that Lucy killed him (all totally unnoticed by everyone else) - but I hated the whole 'I forgive you' thing - what was that supposed to do?? really doctor *sighs and shakes head*
I almost cried as he died in the Doctor's arms - but not quite - though I did feel sorry the Doctor.
Also - is 10 going to end every finale saying 'what?...what?...WHAT?!?' - cos it seems like it....
Okay - so what did I love??
Jack = Face of Boe - it's bad, but good at the same time....(the mother and I listed off the bad things straight off *g*) He didn't age, but he did.....yeah, I liked, but I pick at it *nods* it needed to be written in better, instead of just being dropped in casually.
The ring at the end - being picked up (by Lucy????)
Martha - *hugs* - they finally dealt with it all - thank GOD
The cute doctor - *nods* - and Martha giving the Professor the flowers.
But overall - VERY disappointed - also - Torchwood has now been soiled. Never again will we be able to doubt whether Jack survives, cos, duh, he's the face of boe *head desk*
1 and a half out of 10 I think...
Also - I totally geeked out loud throughout the episode - so much so that the Da wound up staring at me with a strangely blank look on his face - which is saying something as we are both normally one the same line of thought...
Da has decided that the Master went into the ring, before his body died...am not sure about this theory (as he said 'like the doctor did in human nature, but with the ring') but we shall seee I guess...
The other theory was that the hand was the master regenerated....but ummm...yeah *flushes* Lucy makes more sense.
The face of Boe, however, makes a little more sense - what with the babies thing that was mentioned in 'New Earth' and 'Day One' - plus knowing what to tell the Doctor. Am still not especially happy with it though...it seems a little too much like a crack!fic.
