Among people who drink Scotch and are snobby about it, there is some stigma against blends. OK, fair enough; you have to draw a line somewhere to have proper snobbery. What I don't understand is why Dewer's is held up to be sort of the "good" one. An experience at a restaurant prompted me to think of this, and I realized I'd heard it before. First, for clarity, a couple points: 1) I like blended scotch fine; and 2) I think Dewer's is fine. I drink it on occasion, and it's pretty good. I just don't find it that good, or really any better than Chivas Regal, Johnny Red, etc. When I think of good blends, I like Black Bottle and John, Mark and Robbo's works, or Johnny Black on occasion. Maybe it's just me; if anyone actually reads this who likes scotch, let me know your opinion.
