Home, home on the strange.

I'm now back from South Africa in the happy go lucky world of Luanda again. Can I just say that SA is a fascinating place. Top comments included
"If you go round a black township you'll not find any crime, only in the coloured townships, they're all doing drugs because they all have jobs" [Our township tour guide on the relative merits of different townships].

"The problem is that the govt. wants to give everything to the blacks, they keep ignoring the coloureds" [My taxi driver on what's wrong with the SA football team].

So safe to say the scars of apartheid haven't gone away. Sad that the people most affected with a racially motivated viewpoint were those communities most impacted by apartheid. There's still a lot of anger and frustration. There's also hope and some amazing stories. God, have become complete tourist. Might as well go to India to find myself next year.

That said, it is easily one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, it's not quite Canada pretty, but it's close. Also, interesting to see a government that is at least doing something meaningful, there's a lot of social housing being built. Makes a contrast from where I live, sadly.

The animals are fantastic. I saw penguin, lion, giraffe, rhino, dolphin, whale, kudu, leopard, tortoise, secretary bird, ostrich, seal, zebra, haartebeast, various kinds of 'bok and ate all sorts of things.

It's all very exciting, the wine's lovely too, so I'd recommend it, if only for the booze and stuff. Mainly though, got to spend time with girlf, after four months in Angola it was time to take a break.

Have many, many pictures, will bore you all with them when I get home.

Other than that, you really need to drive around SA to get a flavour of the place, I'd recommend it, you can see so much more of how the whole thing is put together...

Right well, christmas holidays in ten days, can't wait, will hopefully see more of you all then.

PS I am well and not been eaten, or arrested, which makes this month a good month.
