And thus progresses our last night in northern Virginia. I think Meg was given a rather excellent send-off by
off our backs (involving vegan cupcakes!), and I spent a rather wonderful evening last night drinking a little too much and discovering new, amazing places in DC (as there is no shortage of them.)
I will admit that my stomach has been lurching all day, and not just because of residual effects of the alcohol. Although I've spent a lot of time away from this area, moving across the country seems a little more permanent. Also, reasons for coming back seem to be dwindling as people disperse and find their own ways.
It's not a sad feeling per se, just the knowledge that a huge, new chapter of our lives is beginning.
There are clothes being washed, odds and ends being flung into boxes, and general chaos in the House of Haines right now. We set off in just over twelve hours and I couldn't be more excited. And when Megan reads this:
Meg, I am so glad that we are doing this together. There isn't anyone else I could imagine engaging in this with. You are very patient with me and with the entire process in general. I am so proud of us and so happy that we can open this new chapter together.
[Yay, friends!]
