Comments: PLEASE bear with me, for I do not know much about the InuYasha. To tell the truth, I've only seen a handful of episodes, and read many fanfics, to a point that I can vaguely distinguish what's canon, and what's not, but I stress vaguely. Hell, I don't even know exactly how the end came to be. And not only will this story be lacking in canons, but it'll be lacking in plot as well. I plan on this being fast paced, and somewhat short. But I'll just see where it goes.
Summary: Throughout Kagome's life, there were always parallels. There were always differences too. But never had it occurred to her that the people would be the same in her modern life, as it was in the past.
The first one Kagome had met had been when she was nearing nineteen years old.
It was a cold day, and they were in a heated cafe, drinking canned coffee. She was grateful to be back in her own time--for once. Sometimes, she needed the vacation. And the idea of her playing "catch-up" with Yuka, Eri, and Ayumi was relieving, almost relaxation.
The three were currently chatting it up about Ayumi's first boyfriend ever, as Kagome spaced out again. By now, the other girls matured enough to not to pry too much into Kagome's life, and for that she was grateful. She was getting tired of that routine.
But she was taken out of that dreaming stupor as she realized that the three other girls' attentions were not on each other, but on a man. A man who seemed oddly... familiar.
He was handsome and somewhat built, which was noticeable even under his robes. The contours of his face were familiar. His eyes, half-lidded, were captivating, even though his they were focused on someone else. His hands were currently occupied holding Eri's delicate left hand. His words were suave, yet abashing, which brought a blush to the girls' faces. Kagome was confounded; she had to stop herself from yelling out "Miroku!"
"...So, I'd be delighted, if you would join me in our temple's festivities this afternoon." He looked at the rest of the girls, including Kagome, with a smile. "I'd like it if all of you would join me."
The girls, excluding Kagome, had all nodded slowly and shyly. She couldn't believe this. Her friends were being sucked in by this...leech! She knew exactly what her Miroku was like, but this one was an entirely different one as far as she knew. Also, she wouldn't want even the tiniest risk of having this Miroku get rid of a would-be Sango, though she knew the idea was silly. A thought occurred to her.
"I'm sorry, uh, monk," she started slowly, gaining the attention of the young man. "But, we're a little busy at the moment. Perhaps we shall see you there later in the afternoon?"
He smiled slightly at her, which was quite a different reaction from the three girls' incredulous looks. With a slight bow, he replied, "Of course, I shall expect to see you later, then..."
With that, he left the cafe. Almost immediately after his departure, there was a collective sigh from Kagome's companions, especially from Eri, who had her hand extended in the same position as when Miroku was holding it. Kagome wanted to knock some sense into them, but before she could say anything, she was pounced on.
"How come you did that?!"
"He was so cute!"
"It could have been a date!"
Kagome, in defense, yelled, "Well, you don't know what he's like!" But figuring that response was too suspicious, she continued, "A-and, Yuka, what happened to Kani? Did you forget about your crush? And Ayumi, you have a boyfriend! I don't think he'd appreciate this very much--"
"Oh Kagome, lighten up," Eri responded. "It was just harmless flirting."
"Yeah, don't worry about it," Ayumi said with a light smile. "Besides, we would have totally gone to cheer Eri on with him."
She was dumbfounded. The idea of Eri going out with Miroku simply... irked her. Yet the other girls were completely oblivious, with good reason, to her confusion.
Yes, that was right, she thought. Confusion. She found it odd that she simply took it in stride that there was a Miroku look-alike who acted and was just the same as the one she knew... in her time. It now hit her. What the heck was that? Where did he come from? How did this happen? She was so stumped.
