He was found not guilty by the courts, but was he guilty? They are not always the same thing.

The Prosecution believes he is guilty, however, the evidence provided was not sufficient enough to break the sound alibi of the defendant and one of the witnesses.

It doesn't require evidence to be guilty.

It requires proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty.

To who? Either he is guilty or he isn't. In that, there is no proof required.

That's not the way law works. There were no witnesses to the moment of the crime, and therefore proof is indeed required to prove the guilt or innocence of a suspect.

I did not ask for the Law's opinion, but yours so to speak--afterall there are many laws and the law is not the people.

As a prosecutor, it's not my opinion that matters in the courtroom.

Is this a courtroom?

So you believe you are the representative of your profession at all times?

There's little other way to be, especially in a city that barely even has the system of law running.

Who are you to impose your law?

Perhaps I should ask who you are to critique it? It was something decided not only by me, but a great majority of the city's residents.

And when the majority impose their will upon one it's either Justice or a Riot, it simply depends on which side of the 'law' they are on. So it is a matter of numbers that determines what is right and wrong? Would that make a riot the correct thing to do even if it is supported by the 'majority'?
What happens when the majority oppose the law imposed on them?
Who am I then? I am part of the minority I suppose who seeks to throw off the oppression of the majority, because decisions made by numbers, without adequate education on the matters is hardly just. An 'education' which is no doubt 'approved' of by the majority--how very unbiased this system is...

GOD I'M SORRY THIS IS SO TL;DR D: wearingcravats March 9 2009, 17:28:57 UTC
The majority of this city's residents are law abiding citizens. They were forced from their homes to a world laden with chaos. When murderers are running freely and threatening their safety, it's not often they will oppose something given to ensure such things. It has little to do with number - rioting is never an appropriate way to handle a situation. That's something many of this city are well aware of ( ... )
