(unfinished fic) Cowboys & Angels

Nov 27, 2006 22:35

Someone posted to still_gay Lance's profile for this new celeb-driven social networking site. On Lance's page he names his pet peeves as "incompetence, ignorance and traffic!!" Of course Lance's pet peeve is incompetence [insert eye-roll]. It made me vaguely recall that somewhere I'd half-finished a story about Lance stuck in traffic and cursing his own ( Read more... )

Okay, another pleasant surprise. Feel free to keep sharing wips with us.

I love a post-break up Lance who's drifty but not completely lost. I mean, I didn't feel any desperation here, just kind of a hmmm, what do I want now vibe.

And actually, except for the other guys, besides Joey, talking about it out loud, it doesn't feel completely different than how I suppose things might really have been. Also, I can totally see a Lance whose wary of commitement back then.

I'm sorry it won't be finished, but thank you so much for letting us read it anyway.

Thank you for reading and commenting! I can't remember if I have any other WIPs languishing, but I might just go through and have a pre-holiday cleanse. I know I have some non-pop things for sure ( ... )

no real NEED to do anything

That's what's interesting to me. They don't need to do anything, but are they going to just fade away? If fame is a drug, do they keep needing it? Is that why we had to endure things like Fame and America's Most Talented Kids and JC on Nickelodeon?

And nothing showed me that Justin should have waited a while than those interviews. He still needed the other guys at that point, he was kind of afloat without them for a while.

And dude, wow, I thought for sure Diane had known about Lance since he was about six. It's pretty sad to me that she didn't.

Yeah -- I totally agree with this. I think it took them all a while to realize they weren't still trying to make it, that they didn't have to say yes to everything.

I still find it hard to believe Diane didn't KNOW, because almost every mom I've ever met with a queer kid admits they knew deep down long before the kid ever told them. But being able and willing to accept it is a totally different thing, and that's even moer heartbreaking.

This is lovely. I'm glad I read it, even if it ends rather suddenly. The notes totally make sense to me. Though I appreciate that possibly I'm filling in a lot. ;)

I don't suppose you know what my note about Ted Casablanca means, because I have no idea!

Anyway, thank you, sorry for the sudden stop. If it helps, I now vaguely recall that one of those in between times they all have sex is in Palm Springs, and that when David breaks up with Lance they're sitting in the front seat of the Aston Martin in David & Sasha's driveway.

Unless those things clash with your filling in, in which case, disregard!

Heh, I'm afraid the Ted Casablanca is as much a mystery to me. I think it got filed under 'references I wouldn't get as a non-native speaker without looking stuff up anyway. *g*

But the trajectory of the thing, that's lovely. Plus! Threesomes! :)

As much as I'd love to read the end, I'm pretty damn happy with what's here. This is awesome. I always love your Lance. He's so. Calm, but not. I'm writing Lance for the first time and I keep making him all high strung and bitchy. Your Lance makes me very happy.

For some reason my favorite bit in this was the conversatio with Chris. But really, it's all fantastic :)

Thank you! I wasn't sure anyone would even read this, but any is more than were enjoying it on my hard drive.

And Lance -- Lance is, I think, even more happy than I usually wrote him as. Maybe not coming out would have eroded that, but I think he's a pretty upbeat person, naturally. Certainly very enthusiastic. And I never saw him as bitchy so much as demanding -- I think it really is a lot about his disdain for incompetence. I think Lance got used to being asked to do things perfectly (including things he wasn't necessarily much good at to start out with) and doesn't quite get that not everyone else approaches things the same way.

Um, clearly I'm still capable of talking about Lance for days. Come hit me up on LJtalk or something if you want any fb as you're writing him!

Haha, I actually don't know like, at ALL. Um, I think people sometimes post at shinyandnew, or at least, that's what I have friended and it seems to work out pretty well. Or it did, the one time I posted something :P

I might take you up on that offer. But I have to warn you, this thing is ridiculously long already. I'm nearing the end, I think, but the end has a lot going on and I'm never sure how many pages I'll ramble on for. It's already 30 pages, I think. Mainly, Lance really hates nepatism. He's slightly bitter about it, but he tries to hate the thing and not the people.

That was lovely. I almost don't care that it cut off in the middle, because it was so enjoyable and so Lance.
