There is nothing I find redeeming or desirable about this place. If anyone stands in our way, I won't hesitate to cut them down.

I doubted you would.

... And I can't let that happen.

I would kill you as well. If I can find a foolproof way to get everyone back to their respective homes, I will not turn away from it, no matter what it is.

A true soldier can attack and defend, regardless of what they've been told to believe.

You couldn't. Believe me. Worse has tried.

What if they don't want to go? They shouldn't have to. We don't have the right to force them, if they want to stay.

... Our leader died protecting the humans. I'm not going to go against what he believed in.

Then they can stay out of the way. I must return to Amestris, to Central, before the battle is over. My future hinges on that day, the moment I was pulled away from. Thirty-five years of life are a waste if I cannot get back there, and I would rather die.

Your leader died here, protecting the people stuck in this city?

And I need to get back to Egypt, and my entire unit. If someone doesn't stop the enemy, your entire planet, our entire race, is gone.

Out leader died back home. But I don't see how that makes any difference. Humans are humans. Doesn't matter the setting.

Your home isn't my planet. But I have to save my country, before hundreds of thousands of people die due to one man's whim.

The oppressors this place look human. Would you protect them, too? The drones as well? Your standards don't fit here. You are sworn to protect people who are elsewhere, and if you choose to stay here because one innocent stands in your way, then you have betrayed them all.

Okay, fine, Earth is going to be burned to scrap by some giant machine thing and a freakish Decepticon who teleports. Billions are going to die.

They're not. The drones aren't either. We had drones back home... they're not sentient. Prime chose to stand for one life. How can I do any different?

Sorry for the typo in my last post. Was in a hurry before work. D: wristsniper March 28 2010, 03:59:52 UTC
My world and your world have nothing to do with each other, I suspect. I can't pretend to care. The army I am a part of once massacred an entire nation--man, woman, and child--so maybe you should just start hating me now.

He died for one person? I hope they were a very important person. Then again, we all have our sacrifices we're willing to make. As long as you don't blindly follow his lead, and take a minute to think for yourself--to consider your situation--I can't rightfully criticize you. But I would still cut you down if you stood in my way, even for innocents. I would always try to minimize loss, but sometimes we do have to make sacrifices.

Does it matter? There's lives at stake either way. An entire race, in my case. And what your armies have done to each other... whatever. I don't get involved in human wars.

Don't... you dare... slight what Optimus did. Don't you even dare. He did what was right. And I'd do the same damned thing if I had to. If you knew him... you'd see. There's nothing blind about it.

You could try to cut me down. I've been fighting for longer than you've been evolved.

So, choose. Save the pathetic people who want to stay here, deluded, or fight them and make it home to save "billions". Is that a choice you could ever make? What if you couldn't save them all?

White knight types like you are the first to fall the moment your narrow values are called into question.

I'd never slight another soldier's sacrifice, but again, if you can't think for yourself, you're useless in a pinch. Generals die just as easily as the front line soldiers.

We don't have to fight them. That's what I'm saying. You just won't listen, because you don't understand. You don't even want to try. I won't harm the humans. I won't.

I'm no... whatever that is.

You already did. Just because I follow orders doesn't mean I'm incapable of thinking for myself. Optimus would have wanted me to defend these people--their right to choose. That's not blindness, that's understanding.

You didn't answer my question at all. What if you were forced to choose? Could you truly choose these few over your billions? If you're capable of thinking for yourself, then answer properly.

You want to save everyone, to be the big hero and uphold some ridiculous ideals, even where they're not applicable. A white knight.

So, you would impede my right to choose freedom, in order to preserve their fragile, false comfort in captivity?

I don't see the need in answering rhetorical questions. It won't happen. I won't have to choose. I... have to find a way to keep everyone alive.

You think I'm doing this for glory? Please. I'm already famous back home. I don't need anything else. And Optimus' ideals... are not ridiculous.

If you put innocent lives in danger, yes, I would stop you. And there would be nothing you could do about it.

That's where you're wrong. You will be forced to choose. Some innocents will have to fall in this battle, if things come to physical blows. If nothing else, this town will use them as shields. It's the only conclusion I can draw from what I've heard so far.

If they put themselves in danger, I won't hesitate to remove them. Saving one at the expense of many is pointless.

No, I won't. If the town uses them... we adapt our plan. Or did your training not include flexibility? A shame, really.

Then I won't hesitate to take you down.
