Android G1 Dev phone: I has it

Jun 01, 2009 20:25

Thanks to the generosity of snej, I finally have a G1 of my very own and have gotten nothing done since I got the T-Mobile data plan activated (which I hear you can just cancel the next day and then rely on wireless access). My PEBL, which is 3 years old, deserves its retirement. OK Android developers, make me your guinea pig!

This would be more exciting were there not 18 Android phones coming out in the coming weeks and months.

Tomorrow will surely witness the first embarrassing instance of the phone going off in the middle of class, hooray.

Meanwhile: figuring out what the magic gestures are to make the Mac recognize when I plug the phone in. It has only recognized it once so far.

Also: Downloaded an ssh client and Shazam and showed off the latter to my mom, which led to standing around my mom's iPod + speaker system listening to music and chatting about it for like half an hour after she said "I bet it won't recognize MC 900 Foot Jesus" and she was wrong, but she did manage to stump it with something else. Excerpted verbatim from my mom's iPod's Genre list:

Hip-Hop
Hip-Hop/Rap
Holiday
Medieval French Christmas
Metal

phones, tech, music, family, google
