Christmas bells are ringing!
We went to Claire's Mom's house for Christmas dinner and I ate and ate and ate and then I ate some more. But first, I drank a glass and a half of some vodka&pomegranate juice thing and took a nap on the couch. Otherwise known as "passed out." I was tired, yo.
Everything with Christmas has gone swimmingly. Drew and I got haircuts on Christmas Eve (Drew's first haircut ever!)
Then we got all gussied up and went to the 4:30 Mass at St. Johns. We left our house at 3:35, we were seated in church by 3:45, and ten minutes after we got there it was standing room only. Seriously, in some places it was 2- and 3-deep standing. So I'm pretty excited that we got there when we did, even if it meant that we had to take Drew downstairs and let him wander around for a while before Mass started. He is really good at Mass...he likes the people and he likes all the singing and the crowd participation. He's not so good at participating at the right times, though. I think he just wants to be sure that people can hear him when he's singing or praying. Quiet reflection times = Drew's praying out loud times. It's pretty awesome. Drew is usually the one who does it, but another toddler cheered loudly at the conclusion of the responsorial psalm. It was cute.
Christmas Eve dinner was a feast. I took pictures but they're still on the camera. We had fillets, steamed artichokes with dipping butter, mushrooms sauteed in garlic and butter, and king crab legs. We could have had half the amount of food that we did and still felt full. As it was, we almost exploded. But it was delicious. And we had a great bottle of Ravenswood to go along with everything. Then we opened presents and went to bed. It was a nice evening.
La got Claire some awesome stuff from China and I got a bunch of things from my Amazon wish list, which is great. I've already updated it, so if you're still looking for something to get me, you can shop with confidence off of my amazon wish list. :-)
We're going to Holly and Matt's this afternoon to see a bunch of Claire's high school friends who are home from various places. And their kids. It should be a fun time, I hope. The one drawback is that it's going to screw up Drew's bedtime routine so we'll see if we pay for that in the coming days. I hope not.
Merry Christmas!
