What, no posts about Lost? What about House?

So the season finale of Lost was on last night. And the night before that was the season finale of House. Also last night was the season finale of American Idol. It's been a busy two nights of television in the McKenna household, for sure.

HOUSE: So, on the show, it appeared that House was shot by a distraught husband of a former paitient of House's. The episode is filled with some insanely gross things, but also some really trippy halucinations. HOWEVER, there are also some who think that House shot himself and the only real thing that we saw in the entire episode was the final 30 seconds when House asks for Ketamine--revealed in the episode to "reboot" the brain, and serve as a treatment for chronic pain sufferers, as House is. This is the best theory I've heard. The "shooter" in the episode is named Moriarity, a tip of the hat to Sherlock Holmes' nemesis, who also serves as House's conscience. But why would House shoot himself? For the past several weeks House has been getting worse and worse, to the point of mainlining morphine. Actually, the last scene from last week is House laying on his couch shooting up morphine listening to Wilson leave a message. Then this week, one of the first things he says is to the wickedly hot Dr. Cameron, "There's no pain, I'm on morphine." Three weeks ago House hinted that he had a gun. ALSO interesting is that "Dr. Gillick" supposedly gave House the Ketamine without House's consent. They've never introduced Gillick on the show before, but a quick Google search reveals that there is a test called the "Gillick Competency" test regarding patient consent to receiving medical treatment. Interesting.

So everything in the entire episode was in House's brain from the time he shot himself to the time he was wheeled into surgery, with the bullet dropping out of HIS OWN HAND, a la The Sixth Sense, to alert the viewer that what they were watching wasn't what they were seeing.

IDOL: I posted this as a comment in 99catsaway's journal earlier, and I'm lazy, so I'll just copy and paste:
Sweet Tits McPhee should have been voted off the island like 7 rounds ago. She never met a song she didn't over-sing. I thought it was brilliant, hilarious, and ironic that she got to do a duet with Meatloaf of a song Celine Dion made famous (written by Jim Steinman).

seaves and I sat there thinking "How did it get to this?" Especially when Chris came out and sang with Live. Not only could he physically double for Ed Kowalczyk, but he can sing just as well, if not better.

Also, did anyone else pick up on the back to back bands who were also featured in Fight Club? Ed from Live was a waiter at Clifton's, and Meatloaf was Robert Paulsen.

LOST: Umm...where to begin? I'm still processing. I'll get back to this later.

pop culture, lost, kill your television, house
