It's that time again.

It's time to step up and help your fellow human beings. The American Red Cross needs supplies, volunteers, money and blood to help the recovery from Hurricane Katrina. In case you haven't been following along, Hurricane Katrina came ashore Monday and has caused extensive damage to Louisianna, Mississippi, and parts of Alabama, leaving millions displaced, many of whom will not have homes to return to for several weeks, if ever. The really bad news from today was the breach of the levee holding Lake Ponchartrain back, flooding enormous sections of New Orleans.

This is a devastating catastrophe and those of us who have not been directly affected--those of us who have not lost everything we own, who still have running water, electricity, a dry home to sleep in--we must heed the call of our fellow human and do what we can to alleviate their suffering.
