T - 8 days and counting

I finished with my class for the summer today. Okay, technically I still have a 15 page paper to write when I get back, but the class time is finished!
Today I am starting my official blog for my trip. While it will not be that exciting until I leave, I need to journal everything from this point on for my independent contract work.

I have been going on massive walks these past few weeks to get myself in shape for my trip. Today I finally went with a fully loaded backpack filled with my heaviest textbooks and my suitcase in tow with weight in it as well. Previously it had only been the backpack with books. With the suitcase added I realized that I am going to get major amounts of exercise while in Germany. I think my arm muscles will be two massive tree trunks when I return!
Doing these practice runs here in the United States, while difficult, is still quite accessible, well for me. I do have some complaints on the routes that I take, in that the mall does not have adequate sidewalks circling the outer parking lots and the sidewalks around the Target center are not accessible from a wheelchair unless one travels through the parking lots with drivers who seem perplexed at the wheelchair user in their right of way. This is a little unnerving, but at least they are traveling at slower speeds.
Other than those two complaints, I feel that the accessibility is more than adequate. I know that my journeys will not be so easy, especially in Vienna. I have read that Vienna is going to be a difficult place for me to get around. I am hoping that the access is better than my imagination seems to think that it is.

More to come...
