Most of the companies I've worked at have had some sort of stock-option plan. Every one of them has said to me "we're underpaying you, but here are some options, so that you will work hard and make us successful, making yourself rich." Which is kind of bullshit. I'm so tired of waiting for vesting. Not to mention the fact that I've had tens of thousands of stock options shoved at me which are now worthless. The reason they are worthless had nothing to do with me, so why exactly would I care what they were ever worth ? I have some now, at some point in the distant future they may be worth something, but what I do doesn't have a large impact on that value, so they are really just a lottery ticket. I get lucky if the company happens to be run well. I'm sick of waiting for that. Just fucking pay me a market wage.
