I was totally, totally BLOWN AWAY. GRABE I AM ON CLOUD 9 AS IN TO THE NTH LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!!
And here's why..
Had my last period awhile ago with Optimism and since it's the last meeting EVER, of course I wanted to leave a message and thank them for everything...so I did. After I spoke, we were all kinda in tears and some of them came to hug me and stuff. As in major iyak ako, though I was disappointed cos I asked if anyone wanted to speak or say something and no one did! But fine fine...nag bell na and I had to go to another class. So, okay. This other class had a surprise which was sweet, 36 post-its with personal messages, a yummy slice of chocolate cake and balloons and this gimmick na isa-isa may letter sila hawak tas nagspell out - WE LOVE YOU MS. NG AND WE WILL MISS YOU!" and then they sang THANKS TO YOU by Tyler Collins :)
So after that class, dismissal na. I was walking in the faculty room already when two students stopped me and had to ask me something about our class financial statement - kasi kailangan isubmit. So I spoke to her about it, and girl # 2, was looking at me and was in tears na! Hahaha. They're both from Opti, btw. So syempre, hug hug and usap-usap. After what seemed like 30 minutes, Kazi (one of them) was like, "Ay cher, halika I wanna show you something.." so I followed, followed..there was kasi this hallway na isang side, windows na ng faculty room and the other side, parang 'balcony' overlooking the high school covered court. She pointed to the high school covered court and when I looked down ------------------------
OPTIMISM WAS THERE!!! LAHAT SILA!!! They formed a heart and 5 of them were in front, in costume -- dancing and acting like they were members of a boy band...so when I saw them syempre awwwwwww. Then they sang, "You areeeee my fiiiiiiiiire, the one desiiiiiiiiiire" As in they were all singing super loud and dancing to the nth level! GRABE TALAGA SOBRANG AS IN BLOWN AWAY TALAGA. All the other teachers in the faculty room went out to see what was happening and all, tapos some of them were crying pa! Dami ding students gathered around watching. Syempre ako hagulgol to the nth level!!! :O I rushed down after their song and syempre hugged each of them!
And then when I was hugging them na they were singing, "cos you bring out the best in me..like no one else can do..that's why I'm by your side..that's why I love you.." Tapos they gave me flowers and a cake and a huge heart that said - Optimism loves Marybeth (first name basis eh no!) that had lots and lots of messages at the back. <3 <3 <3
GRABE TALAGA. Sobrang unexpected and grabe beyond anything I ever imagined!!!! :D :D :D :D :D I'm reaaaaaaaally going to miss them!!!! I mean hello I would never have thought of doing any of that to my teachers before!!! :O :O :O
Front and back!
Mmm hello fatness!
:)
Kahit na sira iPod ko kahapon (yes nasira siya) -- it got caught up in the pedals of the elliptical machine in the gym. HAHAHA! I don't care I'm sooooooooooooo happy! :D :D :D
Edit:
I wrote something about my first year of teaching and posted it on multiply, ilalagay ko narin dito!
I still can't believe I did it. I actually survived a school year teaching! But I only have good things to write about my experience. My students ask me time and again if I'm going to continue teaching and how long I'll be teaching -- and I seriously don't know. Part of me still wants to go into PR and Events and then again, the fulfillment that teaching gives...indescribable. This week has been amazing. As a teacher, it's not everyday that people pat you on the back and tell you that you did a good job. Those things, if not never, come rarely and this week, I think I had a lot of that (hindi sa pagyayabang). Being in this profession, all I ever wanted was to make a difference in such that I would be able to make my students love God more and to make them more grateful. I do believe that for the most part, I was able to do that and for that, I couldn't be happier.
All the hard work, late nights spent checking, later nights spent writing everyone little notes, thinking of ways to make lessons interesting (hey, it's a challenge, ha! How do you make, "Institution of the Eucharist" and other stuff like that interesting for 14-year-olds?), delivering my stories with actions and graphic descriptions, and so much more ... so worth it.
Count on this: Lahat ng substitutions for Xyzeus, kukunin ko next year! :P
No good byes, only see you laters! It's been a GREAT (understatement) year, girls (if you're reading this). Missing you already.
Awww ♥ Thank You, Jess!!! :D :D :D
