Yours
The rich, heavenly aroma roused Tommy from his sleep. He stirred and breathed deeply.
Coffee.
He squinted at the clock on the bedside table and groaned. “Gods, Adam,” he mumbled and snuggled down deeper into the covers, determined to get a little more sleep. It was their first day off in months and Adam was luring him downstairs with his favorite coffee.
They’d been on the road since August, traveling the world on the Glam Nation Tour. Tommy couldn’t have been more proud. Adam’s first solo tour had been an amazing success and Tommy had been lucky enough to be right there by his side, playing bass in the band. He had never dreamed it would be possible, considering just months before they’d left, Tommy had been a pixie.
He smiled to himself and thought about the day that he’d met Adam - the look on his face when he’d seen Tommy, caught tripping over a loose piece of flagstone in the garden. Their connection had been instant, complete and undeniable. Despite the meddling of Tommy’s parents and Alberich, the Fairy King, he’d given up his immortality for love - for a chance to live his dream of becoming a musician. He’d found it all in Adam - a lover, friend, a dreamer and a soul mate who shared his love of music.
Tommy rolled onto his back and groaned, the scent of bacon wafting up from the kitchen. He sighed and peeked at the clock again. There was no use resisting, Adam was hauling out the big guns. He rolled out of bed, pulled on a pair of pajama pants and headed downstairs.
“Hi,” Adam greeted him cheerfully from in front of the stove.
“Don’t act like you weren’t luring me down here with your good smells and promises of caffeine,” Tommy mumbled, eyeing him suspiciously as he padded across the kitchen to pour himself a mug of Adam’s black magic potion. He sipped it and sighed in satisfaction. Adam always knew exactly what he liked.
Sipping his coffee, Tommy snuggled into Adam's side and watched as he flipped an omelet. He sighed contentedly, enjoying the warmth of Adam's body, the comforting flow of his energy.
Adam loaded their plates and Tommy slouched into one of the chairs at the small kitchen table. "So tell me why we're up at the ass crack of dawn on the first real day we've had off in months." Tommy asked.
Adam laughed and ruffled Tommy's hair as he set a plate down in front of him. It was piled high with everything Tommy loved. He braced himself. Adam was pulling out all the stops.
"I thought that maybe we could do a little holiday shopping," Adam said with a grin. We've been away and I haven't bought a thing for anyone."
"So you thought you'd ease me into it with the most amazing breakfast ever?" Tommy said with a smile but inside, his heart sank. He loved the holidays. But it was the first year since his transformation that he'd been away for Yuletide - the month long winter festival of rebirth.
Adam smiled at the compliment but held out his hand. "What's wrong?" he asked, probably feeling the shift in Tommy's emotion.
Tommy shrugged and took his hand. "It's just...this is the first time I've been away from home at Yuletide. I miss my family."
Adam cocked his head to the side and looked at him inquisitively. "Yuletide? I thought you said that you celebrate Christmas."
Tommy smiled and squeezed Adam's hand before resuming his meal. "Oh we celebrate the birth of the Christ child - in April, on the actual date of his birth. Yuletide is the month long celebration of joy and rebirth of spirit. We give thanks to the Mother Earth for the energy that lives inside us all," Tommy explained.
"Sounds amazing," Adam said wistfully.
Tommy smiled. "It is. Work like...stops all month. The People spend their time feasting with family and friends. On the eve of the Winter Solstice - the longest night of the year - we gather in the center of the forest to give thanks to Mother Earth in the ancient ceremony of Athnuaigh. Afterward, the children are sent to bed and the adults dance until dawn. Many couples pledge themselves to their mates or reaffirm their bonds; we drink, frolic and fuck." Tommy grinned.
"Like my video," Adam laughed.
"Exactly, it's my favorite time of the year.”
They laughed and Tommy smiled down into his plate remembering his many years celebrating Yuletide.
Adam touched his arm. “Why didn’t you say anything?” he asked softly.
Tommy shrugged. “I just…you kept saying how glad you were to be home, to be able to relax. And you’ve been so exhausted; I didn’t want to drag you off again."
Adam frowned and shook his head. "It's true that I'm glad to be home, but part of that is wanting to spend time with family and friends - yours included. This celebration sounds important," he said, reaching for Tommy's hand again. "And if it's important to you, it's important to me." Adam grinned. "Besides, it sounds like a blast. We should go."
"Really?" Tommy asked, grinning.
"Yeah, we should. When is the Winter Solstice this year?"
"It's the twenty-first....Tuesday." Tommy was excited. He should have known better than to keep his feelings from Adam but they'd been so busy that he hadn't had the time to even stop and think about it until Adam had mentioned shopping for the Holidays.
"Okay, perfect. That will give us enough time to shop for your family and plan to be off the grid for a few days," Adam said, pushing back his empty plate.
"Mom will be so excited."
"Will we stay with your family?" Adam asked and Tommy laughed.
"No, not unless you can shrink yourself. My family lives in a tree."
Adam smirked crookedly. "That's right...your family tree. Like the Keebler Elves."
"Ha ha...Pixies..not elves." Tommy shot him a withering look. That joke never seemed to get old to Adam. "We'll be put up with one of the larger families - elf or fairy."
Excited, Tommy wolfed down the rest of his breakfast and leapt up to put his dishes in the dishwasher. With a grin, he wiggled into Adam's lap and kissed him, sweet and tender.
"You're amazing, you know that?" he said, pushing a wave of his joy over Adam.
Adam wrapped his arms around Tommy and pulled him closer, pushed back, surrounding Tommy in a little pocket of happiness. He sat with his head on Adam's shoulder, getting caught up in the soft caress of Adam’s hand on his knee.
He'd seen his parents since they'd gotten back to Los Angeles. But it would be great to see everyone again - his cousins and friends. Jon had kept in touch while Tommy had been gone, visiting Brad and dictating emails and texts. But it wasn't like being there, talking and laughing like they used to.
And then there was The Winter Solstice. He couldn't wait to dance with Adam in the meadow, to run with him in the woods. He wanted to make love with Adam in the moonlight and see the rosy glow of dawn on his skin as the sun rose.
He shifted and looked up into Adam's eyes, so warm and beautiful. "Come on," he said, scrambling off of Adam's lap.
"Where are we going?"
"Didn't you want to go shopping?" Tommy said, tugging Adam's hand.
Laughing, Adam chased him up the stairs to get ready for their day.
~~~~~~~~~~
Tommy grunted as he lifted an armload of bags out of the back seat of Adam's Mustang. "Fuck, Adam," he said, pressing the garage door button with his elbow on the way into the kitchen. "Did you leave anything at the store?"
He dumped the bags on the kitchen floor and headed for the refrigerator, pulling out a beer. He twisted the cap and drank it down, sighing and closing his eyes. Adam was a force to be reckoned with most of the time. But he was a take no prisoners shopper.
He leaned against the wall and stared at the bags on the floor. Shaking his head, Tommy laughed. They'd been shopping for hours and he was looking forward to some Del Taco and a movie marathon.
"Tommy!" Adam called from the living room, voice questioning and apprehensive.
Frowning, Tommy strode into the living room. "What's wro...."
The words died on his lips as he looked around the living room, flabbergasted.
"What the hell?" Adam asked, in awe.
The living room had been transformed into a Yuletide wonderland. There were evergreen garlands, holly and twinkling, magical lights everywhere. A large pine was growing up through the floor and it was covered with strings of berries, glass balls and magical lights.
Tommy laughed when he noticed the enormous mistletoe adorning each entrance and archway.
"I was afraid to touch it,” Adam said, pointing to a large, gold envelope that was floating above the roaring fireplace. Adam looked as though he was afraid to move.
Tommy smiled and plucked the letter from the air. His heart was beating with excitement. "It's all right, Adam, you don't have to be scared. It's just some decorations and a message," he said, eyeing the seal on the back of the envelope. "From The King."
Their eyes met and Tommy could feel Adam's nervousness. They'd forgiven King Alberich for his meddling in their relationship, admitting that his duty to The People had forced him to question their connection, to challenge their love in a trial by fire. But they still became nervous when The King sent messages or gifts.
"Go on; open it," Adam whispered.
Tommy nodded and slid his finger beneath the thick, gilded flap of the envelope. He broke the seal and pulled from the envelope a sheet of parchment.
Joyous Yuletide,
Your absence at our tables has been weighing heavily upon my heart - to say nothing of your mother's - so it was with great happiness that I learned of your plans to join us for the Winter Solstice celebration.
"How did he know?" Adam laughed and looked up at Tommy.
"I sent Jon a message this morning to let him know we were coming. But he wasn't supposed to tell anyone." Tommy scowled and read on.
Do not worry; your secret visit is safe with me. I just happened to be there when Jon received your note. And he spilled the beans before reading your warning.
Please consider yourselves invited to lodge at the castle during your stay. A room has been prepared.
Until Then,
King Alberich
P.S. I hope you don't mind my rectifying your obvious lack of Yuletide cheer. Don't worry; they will disappear should any other human enter your home.
"Well, I guess that settles that," Adam said, patting Tommy's thigh. "We're going on vacation in a magical fairy forest and staying in a castle. I can't think of anything more appropriate. My fans would be writing fiction of us arriving on giant, white, sparkly unicorns," Adam laughed.
Tommy shook his head. "That's impossible," Tommy said, distracted, staring at the letter.
"Of course it is; Unicorns don't exist."
"Sure they do, just not around here. Unicorns are found in the northern regions. They prefer the cold."
Adam fell silent and Tommy looked up. Adam's eyes were sparkling in the Yuletide light and his face was full of wonder. "They're real?"
Tommy grinned and tossed The King's letter onto the coffee table. "Yep, Unicorns, fairies, trolls, goblins - all manner of magical things. Unicorns are very smart and very powerful. They can talk and do so, at length, when they decide they like you."
"You realize that I need to meet one, right?"
Tommy shrugged. "You won't see a unicorn unless it wants you to. I've met a few; they're very wise and gracious. But unicorns trust very few humans."
"Smart of them, I guess," Adam said a little sulkily.
Tommy laughed. "And who were you making fun of for picturing us arriving on giant, white, sparkly unicorns?"
Adam made a face and leaned forward to kiss Tommy on the nose. "Come on."
Tommy groaned as Adam pulled him to his feet. "Where are we going?"
"To wrap gifts, of course. We need to be ready for Tuesday."
“But what about take out and movies?" Tommy asked, tugging Adam back to the couch.
Adam laughed and tugged harder, pulling Tommy into his arms. "Gonna have to wait, Baby. But I'll tell you what...help me and I'll blow you while you watch some ridiculously cheesy horror movie."
"Hey, my movies are not cheesy," Tommy said, poking Adam in the side.
"Would you rather I just watch the movie then?"
Their eyes met and Adam raised a mocking brow, stifling a smile.
Tommy heaved a sigh and grabbed Adam's hand, pulling him toward the kitchen. "No, your mouth can be put to much better use than complaining for the millionth time about Laurie Strode turning her back on Michael."
"Well it is kinda dumb. Never turn your back on someone who’s trying to kill you with a butcher knife." Adam laughed when Tommy rolled his eyes. "All right...all right. Blow job it is."
"Good idea," Tommy said with a smile and shoved a bag into Adam's arms.
~~~~~~~~~~
Adam looked around the feasting hall, trying to keep his mouth closed. It looked like something out of a fantasy movie with thick, stone walls, vaulted ceilings and an enormous fireplace burning brightly along one wall. A gigantic Yuletide tree grew from the stone floor and reached high into the rafters. It, and the entire feast hall, was decorated in garlands, berries, and mistletoe. Tiny, illuminated glass balls hung from each branch of the tree, and balls of assorted sizes filled the air above with their warm glow.
Adam and Tommy, along with Tommy’s family, were seated at the King’s table. But the hall was filled with tables of other families of every manner of magical creature you could imagine. It was the Winter Solstice Feast, and everyone in the Kingdom had been invited.
“They have to magically extend the feast hall for the event,” Tommy whispered, having seen Adam’s amazement.
Adam looked at him. “It’s not usually this big?” he asked.
Tommy shook his head. “No, it’s large, don’t get me wrong. But The Winter Solstice Feast is the largest event in the Kingdom. Everyone is here.”
“Which is why, dear boys, I was very glad to learn you’d be joining us,” King Alberich, chimed in.
Adam looked to the head of the table to find The King smiling fondly at them. He smiled back. “I’m honored to be here, Your Highness,” he said, looking around at Tommy’s family. They’d been provided a small dais on top of the table so that they could be closer to Tommy and more easily communicate. They seemed happy. Tommy’s parents beamed up at them with love in their eyes. Tommy and his sister were chatting noisily about the latest gossip and goings on of their little village.
Adam smiled and watched his lover laugh. He sighed, happy to see Tommy so relaxed. It was amazing to him how easily Tommy had fit into Adam’s life. Everyone seemed to love him - his family, his friends. The fans adored him and had taken to him just as much and sometimes even more than Adam himself. Tommy was warm, humble and kind; he treated everyone like a friend, even if he’d just met them.
But there with his family, Tommy was home. And it was at times like that what Adam felt a small pang of guilt for having stolen Tommy away. He knew that it was silly. Tommy had made the choice to become human without Adam’s knowledge. But he wished sometimes, for Tommy’s sake, that he could go back now and then. He wished that Tommy could sit at his parent’s table and eat dinner. Adam wished that Tommy could fly again, soar into they sky and fly with the birds.
Tommy had loved to fly. And sometimes, when he thought Adam wasn’t looking, Adam caught him looking up into the sky, watching a flock of birds loop and twist. He’d giggle, and smile wistfully and then shake his head as he looked down at his feet. Adam knew that Tommy never regretted his decision. He could feel Tommy’s emotions. But he missed those things, and Adam wished that he could give them back to Tommy.
Adam sighed and looked down at his drink. He gulped the last of his wine, marveling at the rich taste and smoothness. Tommy had been right - there really was nothing like Elven wine. He set down his goblet, only to see it be replaced by a clear glass goblet of something emerald and fizzy. The goblet in front of Tommy was replaced as well. They smiled at each other, puzzled until they looked up to see The King watching them, a pleased smile on his face. The King raised his cup to Adam and Tommy, and they did the same, drinking together in a silent toast.
Horns blew in the distance and King Alberich grinned and stood. The feast hall grew silent and the King raised his cup to the crowd.
“Joyous Yuletide!” he announced, holding up his goblet.
“Joyous Yuletide!” the crowd answered back, cheering and drinking in salute to The King.
“It has been but a year since we’ve met and feasted together in celebration of the yearly rebirth,” The King said. “It has been a year of loss and of gain.” The King looked at Adam and Tommy with a wry smile. “Certainly a year of growth and reception.”
The crowd laughed and Adam smiled, his heart warmed by the acceptance he’d received from The People. When they’d arrived, he’d been greeted with smiles and nods, as if he’d been a member of The People all his life.
“And it is time once again to give thanks to the Mother Earth for all that she has given to us. Please join me in one half hour, in the center meadow, for the Athnuaigh ceremony.”
They drank to each other and The King excused himself to prepare. Adam looked around, wondering how everyone would make it to the meadow in time. But as people began to disappear from their tables, Adam understood.
“Ready?” Tommy asked, taking Adam’s hand. His cheeks were pink and he grinned, snuggling against Adam’s side.
“Yep, do we walk?” Adam asked.
Tommy shook his head. “No, my family will transport us. Just hold on to me tight. And be prepared for a strange feeling in your stomach.”
Adam did as he was told. Holding tight to Tommy, he closed his eyes and waited. A weird, dull tug on his stomach was the only indication that they’d moved.
“We’re here,” Tommy said.
Adam opened his eyes and looked around. It was the same clearing in which they’d had the inquisition. But it had been transformed and decorated for Yuletide. The clearing opened up to the sky, revealing the moon.
“The ceremony begins at midnight,” Tommy explained, taking Adam’s hand and leading him through the crowd of people. The meadow was large enough that they weren’t pushed together and Adam felt himself relaxing.
Tommy had explained what would happen. Athnuaigh was simply a meditative communion with nature. There was no magic - only thanks offered to your higher power for all that you’d been given. Adam had never been a religious person. Spiritual yes, but organized religion rubbed him the wrong way. The practices of The People were akin to his own and Adam felt very comfortable as they walked hand in hand, looking for a spot to sit down.
“Adam!” a familiar voice called and Adam turned around.
Brad was running toward them, Jon flying along behind him.
“Brad?” Adam laughed, hugging his old friend while Tommy gently did the same to Jon.
“In the flesh! Jon happened to mention that he would be seeing you guys and I made him tell me all about the celebration. I thought it sounded amazing and so he invited me!”
Brad waved his hands with a flourish and Adam laughed. “Well it’s good to see a familiar face,” Adam said.
“And you! Look at you guys!” Brad said, taking in the clothes that The King had provided. “Honey!” Brad hugged Tommy and looked them over again. “This is beautiful!” Brad stroked the exquisite robe that Tommy wore.
“The King insisted.” Tommy made a face. It was a far cry from his usual attire.
They were dressed similarly - Adam in sapphire and black, Tommy in a rich mossy green and gold. There were boots, leggings and fine lawn shirts that laced up the front and puffed around the arms to then lace tightly at the wrists. But the most beautiful part of their outfits was the robes. They were sleeveless, form fitting to the waist and then cut wider, hanging just above their feet. The material was soft as silk and seemed to sparkle. They were ornately embroidered around the collars and down the front.
“You so want to take it home, don’t you?” Brad said, interrupting Adams admiration of the tailoring.
“Who wouldn’t?” Adam said, making a face, holding out his robe, posing.
“The King does have fine taste,” Brad said with a smile.
“And you would know,” Jon said with a smirk, butting in to hug Adam. “Nice to see you, Adam; but, I believe the ceremony is about to begin.”
They followed Jon to a clear spot near the large tree at the front of the clearing. Adam exchanged a look with Brad, wondering at Jon’s terseness. Brad just shrugged.
They sat in the grass, the crowd’s merriment slowly softening to a quiet and comforting silence. The tree groaned and twisted, opening to reveal King Alberich, who stepped forward to address the crowd.
“Good People,” he said. “Let us give thanks.” And with that he sat down in the grass amongst his people.
Tommy took Adam’s hand and smiled before he closed his eyes.
Adam followed suit, unsure of what to think or do. He listened to the silence around him. He could feel Tommy’s beautiful light and the positive energy flow of those around him. He breathed in and out, connecting.
Thank you. Thank you for everything. The gifts I’ve been given…I treasure them. And I hope…I hope that I’m able to give back all that I’ve gotten.
Adam drew a deep breath and was overwhelmed by an intense wave of peace and love. His heart felt lighter and his mind cleared. The chaos of the last year seemed to fade away. Adam was left only with the love and joy he’d received and given to his family, friends and fans - and to Tommy.
He breathed slowly and opened his eyes to find that the crowd had begun to sing, soft and sweet. He looked at Tommy and smiled when he saw the love radiating in his eyes.
“It’s the old ones,” Tommy whispered. “They sing the ancient song of renewal, of Athnuaigh.”
“I don’t understand the words, but it’s beautiful.”
Tommy nodded. “It’s in the ancient Gaelic. They say ‘Fill your cup and renew your spirit for the journey is long. Give thanks to the Mother; heal your soul in her sun. Awake - rejuvenated and take up your path, ne’er looking back’.”
Adam listened, peaceful. Tommy squeezed his hand and cuddled close. The singing came to a close and The King stood.
“Take up your path,” he said softly, the crowd responding the same.
“Tonight, the planets are aligned. And the moon passes behind the earth, blocking out the sun’s rays. Let us revel and welcome the sun’s return.” He held his goblet and drank deeply,” smiling.
The People cheered in response and started getting to their feet. Adam turned to Tommy to find him grinning.
“Now it’s time for the fun part,” Tommy said, standing up.
Adam stood and brushed the grass from his butt, laughing when Tommy stepped into his arms. He held Tommy close, drinking in the love that poured forth. He poured back, feeling whole and complete. “Thank you,” Adam whispered.
“For what?” Tommy asked.
“Bringing me here.”
Tommy just smiled and took his hand, leading him to the dance floor. As they danced, Adam wondered again how he’d been so lucky to find Tommy. And he hoped that somehow, he’d be able to show Tommy just how much he loved him.
~~~~~~~~~~
Adam ran naked through the forest, the cool of the night making the skin on the back of his neck pebble with goose flesh. He could hear Tommy laughing, feel the trail of his energy. Adam came to a halt near a large tree and waited, knowing that Tommy was too impatient to hide.
He listened as Tommy crept closer, smiling when he walked past Adam hiding in the shadow of the tree. Adam waited until Tommy stopped before he pounced. They tumbled to the ground, laughing. Tommy straddled Adam’s hips and with a triumphant grin, he tickled Adam, holding him down, helpless and laughing until Adam rolled them, gaining the upper hand.
Adam held Tommy down, leaning over to brush his lips over Tommy’s cheek. Tommy wiggled but his playful cries turned into those of need as Adam leaned down to suck gently at Tommy’s earlobe.
Adam groaned as instantly, Tommy melted, pliant and needy against him. He kissed Tommy’s neck, wet and random, sucking little marks here and there.
“I love you,” Adam whispered.
“Love you more,” Tommy answered, his legs wrapping around Adam’s hips.
Adam rocked, rutting himself against Tommy’s cock, feeling the slick, slide of their arousal. Adam took his mouth then, sucking Tommy’s tongue and then moaning when Tommy sucked back.
“I love your wicked little mouth,” Adam groaned as Tommy licked a hot trail down Adam’s neck. “Suck my cock,” he pleaded.
“Only if you suck mine.”
Adam moaned when Tommy straddled his face. “Fucking... uh.” Tommy’s ass was amazing. He liked to tease that Tommy had a non existent ass but like that - all spread out and his - Adam could think of nothing but getting inside it.
He moaned when Tommy took him inside his mouth, slick and hot and so deep down his throat. Adam pushed his face against Tommy’s balls, rubbing and gently sucking his way back to the base of his cock. Tommy moaned and Adam thrust his hips, driving his cock deeper into Tommy’s throat.
Tommy lifted his hips, giving Adam the space he needed to get at the swollen, wet head of his dick. Adam grasped the length and gently pulled it back, licking down Tommy’s shaft and around the head. Tommy groaned, impatient and in no mood for Adam’s games.
Adam smiled and swallowed him down, giving in to the need. He thrust his hips, fucking Tommy’s mouth as his own was fucked. He ran his spit slick thumb over Tommy’s hole, circling and pressing until finally pushing in.
Tommy’s hips stuttered and he moaned around Adam’s cock. Adam was gentle at first, opening Tommy slowly. But Tommy groaned and rolled his hips, pushing back, asking for more.
Adam gave it to him, finger fucking his tight little hole, feeling him clench down and drive forward, deeper into Adam’s throat. He lost himself in the moment, thrusting deeper, groaning when Tommy moaned around his thick shaft. They let go just moments apart, falling, and clinging.
Slowly, Adam withdrew his fingers. He helped Tommy turn around and held him, whispering soft words of love into his ear.
Tommy sighed contentedly and shivered.
"Cold baby?" Adam asked, rubbing his hands up and down Tommy's back. Tommy nodded. "Then let’s go find our clothes." Adam huffed a laugh. “And I could totally use a drink. You couldn’t have been more right about that Elven wine."
Tommy scoffed and dusted the dirt from Adam's back. "Don't think I'm done with you, Lambert," he said with a naughty grin, squeezing Adam's ass.
Adam gave Tommy a heated look and leaned back to kiss him, slow and dirty, sucking the taste of himself from Tommy's tongue. "Hmmm," he growled. “I hope not, because I’m certainly not done with you.”
They started toward the trees where Adam thought they'd dropped their clothes but stopped short when Tommy made a strange squeaking noise. He turned around to find Tommy staring at him, wide eyed and frightened.
"What's wrong? Do I have a bug on me?" Adam asked, frowning, reaching behind himself.
"No it....it's...."
"What the fuck?" Adam asked, feeling something hard and bony under the skin of his shoulder blade.
"Adam..." Tommy said, alarmed.
Adam looked up and screeched as the trees around them grew bigger. "Tommy...the trees!" he gasped, looking around.
"Oh...fuck, fuck, fuck," Tommy exclaimed. "It's not the trees...it's us! Look!" Tommy turned around and Adam watched, open mouthed, as wings sprouted and grew from Tommy's back.
Adam was about to touch them but a sharp and searing pain on his back made him drop to his knees. He cursed, squeezing his eyes shut until the pain slowly eased.
"Oh my," Tommy said reverently, approaching. "Adam....you..."
Adam felt a gentle touch, foreign but pleasant. He looked up into Tommy's eyes, his fear abating in the wonder he saw within their depths.
"You have wings," Tommy whispered, and Adam closed his eyes, shivering with pleasure as Tommy touched him again. "And they're just...beautiful. They're all silvery, purple and blue."
Adam looked to where Tommy's wings had sprouted and smiled. "So we’re...pixies?" he asked, realizing that they had indeed shrunk. "How?"
Tommy shook his head. "I have no idea." He frowned and paced, his wings swaying and flexing as though he was getting used to them again. “Wait!” Tommy stopped, looking at Adam, his eyes narrowed in speculation. "King Alberich! The toast at dinner. We've been drinking Elven wine all night...except for that green frothy drink the King poured for us! That son of a bitch!"
Tommy drew a breath, his hands placed angrily on his narrow hips. But before he could speak, a gilded parchment materialized between them, hanging in the air expectantly.
"Oh for fuck's sake! What now?" Tommy spat, snatching the parchment from the air. Adam waited nervously as Tommy read the note, breathing out when a grin spread across Tommy's face.
"What?" he asked impatiently.
"My gift to you both - a little taste of magic, a little bit of home,” Tommy read. “Enjoy it to it's fullest for it lasts but twenty four hours."
"So...it's a gift?" Adam asked, confused. But then he remembered what he'd been thinking right before The King had poured the drink. He'd been wishing he could give Tommy back some of what he'd given up. "And now we're pixies...." Adam whispered, wondering if the King’s gift had been coincidence or something more.
"What?" Tommy asked.
Adam looked up into Tommy's face and smiled. The King had given him a chance to give Tommy a little bit of his old life. He didn't want to waste a single minute.
He got to his feet and took Tommy into his arms. "Show me," he said, suddenly excited. "Show me how to fly." Adam's heart soared when Tommy grinned. He could feel Tommy's joy wash over him.
"Okay...um, can you like…feel your wings? Try and flap them."
"I..." Adam said, frowning in concentration and then grinning when he realized that he could. "Yeah, I can." He flapped his wings slowly, feeling the muscles work, the resistance of air.
"Awesome! Now like...do it faster, try and lift yourself up. Like this."
Tommy demonstrated, fluttering his wings fast enough to lift himself into the air.
Adam watched Tommy and followed every instruction until finally they were flying. They moved slowly at first. But Adam caught on quickly. It wasn’t long before they were whipping through the trees, chasing each other, whirling around in giggling, airborne hugs. Tommy took him higher and they soared toward the ruddy moon. Adam held him tight, their bodies entwined and held aloft by their wings.
"Come on," Tommy said, breath warm against Adam's neck. "Wanna fuck me?"
Adam growled and kissed him, wet and wanting, his cock already hard against Tommy's belly. Tommy wrapped his legs around Adam's waist, grinding against him.
"Still slicked up," Adam panted, pushing his finger into Tommy's ass. They'd given up condoms long ago - after they'd finally been reunited after the King's challenge. They'd made frantic love in the rain by Tommy's fish pond, completely forgetting about condoms. Afterwards, Adam had insisted that they be tested and they'd never gone back.
Adam groaned as Tommy fluttered down to suck his cock, wet, sloppy and perfect. He closed his eyes, reeling from the exquisite combination of Tommy's hot mouth and the cool night air on his skin. Tommy pulled off with a soft pop and flew up to wrap his legs around Adam.
"Wanna ride you," he whispered, grasping Adam's shaft and slowly impaling himself, gasping and grimacing as he took every inch. "Wanna fuck myself on your cock."
Adam was helplessly lost as he watched Tommy’s face and the place where they were joined. He flapped his wings, taking them higher, moaning when Tommy touched them.
"It feels so good," Adam gasped, struggling to describe the feeling. "Like I can feel your hands everywhere at once."
Tommy nodded - his eyes wild and mischievous. "Like a hot wire to your dick," he said, moving his hips, clenching around Adam as he stroked his wings. "Touch me," Tommy whispered, demanding and desperate.
Adam ran his hands up Tommy's thighs, firm and tight around his waist. With one hand, he reached for Tommy's cock, stroking the hardened flesh. With the other, he carefully ran a finger across a gossamer wing. Tommy moaned and Adam breathed out, amazed as they glowed brightly with arousal.
He'd felt Tommy's wings before but he'd been human, large and clumsy in comparison. As a pixie, Adam could feel everything. Tommy's wings were soft as chiffon, but strong, warm and alive. Adam could feel Tommy's pleasure more keenly, fed on it and pushed it right back. Tommy was glorious, like a tiny fallen angel - debauched and decadent; Adam just couldn't look away.
Tommy flung his bangs from his eyes to look at Adam. Awed, he touched his face and leaned forward to capture his lips. Gripping Adam's shoulders, he clung, breathless and overwhelmed with it all.
He loved being human and he didn’t regret the decision he’d made, not for one moment. But being in the air again, wrapped around Adam, so full of Adam, it was like nothing he’d ever felt before. It was new and home and exhilarating and he never wanted it to end. But he kept moving, fucking himself on Adam’s cock while Adam drank every moan and whisper from his lips. He couldn’t stop.
Adam gripped his ass, squeezing and kneading, pulling him down hard. “So tight,” Adam growled, thrusting up, suckling at Tommy’s neck. Tommy tipped back his head, groaning.
He closed his eyes and pushed, enveloping Adam in his energy, smiling when he felt Adam do the same. He could feel everything - the sweet drag of Adam's cock against his prostate, how tightly he gripped Adam - his pleasure, Adam's pleasure, it was one in the same.
"Adam," he gasped as the lavender glow around them flared in ecstasy, filling them. The slick slide of Adam's fist around his dick, Adam's teeth on his neck, and the hot splash of Adam's come inside him, he felt them as though illuminated in a strobe light, erotic flashes of coherence until with one final burst their wings stopped.
Freefalling, clinging tightly, Tommy smiled against Adam's neck, high on the rush of the love they shared. At the last moment they glided up and over the trees, their laughter ringing through the night just as the moon shifted. The sky brightened to the cheers of The People in the clearing welcoming the sun.
Tommy laid his head on Adam's shoulder as they slowly descended. He flexed his wings, reluctantly allowing Adam to slip from his body. When they touched down it was on a soft bed of moss and they collapsed together, entwined.
Adam stroked his back, his touch warm and comforting. Tommy pressed his face to Adam's neck and breathed in.
"That was..." Adam whispered.
"Yeah," Tommy sighed contentedly, happiness enfolding them.
"Can we...can I..." Adam asked with wonder and Tommy looked up to see Adam wiggling his fingers.
He giggled. "Do magic, you mean?"
Adam nodded.
Tommy shrugged. "Maybe, but magic is more about your knowledge of its existence then what shape your body is in. As a human, I have powers. I can still draw on the energy inside me. Just like you can feel the connection between us, the energy we share. You might be able to do magic; but, not because you're a pixie shaped."
"You can still do magic?" Adam asked, wrinkling his brow. "Why didn’t I know that?"
Tommy shrugged. "For a long time I never tried. But while I was home by myself for awhile…after I lost my passport...I tried. I was weaker for having not used it in a long time but...it was there. He stroked Adam's chest, unsure of how to explain why he'd kept that from Adam. "I chose a mortal life. And I have to protect the secret of The People."
Adam smiled, his lips curling sweetly as he cuddled Tommy closer. "Be who you are, Tommy. If you are a bad ass guitarist/bassist who knows how to wield magic, then be that. Even if it's only when we're alone." He pressed his lips to Tommy's forehead. "I love you for who you are...for everything you are."
Tommy smiled and nodded, closing his eyes. He knew that. But it was always nice to hear. He shivered and wondered whether he should try a warming bubble spell.
He breathed deep, gathering the energy of the earth around them. Concentrating, he smiled when Adam sighed.
"See, you've still got it," Adam said, kissing Tommy's lips. “Nice and cozy," he murmured before slipping off to sleep.
He knew that The King was responsible for their little vacation into pixie bodies. But he couldn't shake the feeling that somehow Adam had had something to do with it. He watched him, the sweet, angelic face of the man he loved. Tommy had given up his immortality. But Adam had given him his life. And for that, Tommy would sacrifice everything all over again. He chewed his lip, wondering how he'd ever repay him.
Adam’s lips twitched into a sleepy smile as Tommy stroked gently over his new wings. They glimmered faintly and Tommy smiled, imagining what the fan girls would say if they knew. He imagined Adam on stage, singing, wings glowing brightly in the inevitable arousal that always came from performing. Tommy closed his eyes and snuggled closer, dreaming of their next tour.
~~~~~~~~~~
Adam stirred, his limbs heavy and languid on the warm little patch of moss. Tommy was stretched atop him, cheek pressed to his chest, and Adam gently kissed his head, fingers threading through his messy blond mass of hair.
Adam smiled as he looked down at Tommy's back. His wings were tucked neatly around him like a cat curled up by the fire. Adam stroked them contemplatively.
"You keep doing that, you're gonna have a very sore ass this morning." Tommy mumbled.
Adam chuckled. Tommy seemed to prefer being taken most times. But every now and then, the mood to top would strike him.
"Come on, Baby," Tommy said sleepily. "Let me fuck that ass...play with your wings...you have no idea how amazing that feels."
Adam's cock stirred and he groaned, imagining the picture that Tommy painted. But he knew that their time was limited. And he wanted to make sure that Tommy used the opportunity for more than sexual pleasure.
"As amazing as that sounds, I thought maybe you might want to spend some time with your family....maybe Jon?"
Tommy looked up to meet Adam's eyes, his gaze open and warm. He smiled almost shyly and kissed him softly. "I love you."
Adam smiled and kissed Tommy's nose. "I love you too, Baby."
They laid together in silence, listening to the forest awake around them. Adam stretched and grimaced when a sharp pain ran down his back. "Maybe we should get up?" he suggested. “A shower sounds amazing."
Tommy chuckled and stumbled to his feet. "So does breakfast. The castle usually serves a kick ass brunch the day after the celebration." He looked up into the sky and frowned. "If we hurry, we might have time."
"But we don't have clothes," Adam said, looking around, unsure of where they were. "I don't even know where we left our human clothes," he said, frowning. He'd liked the clothes that The King had given them for the celebration.
"Don't pout, I know where they are. But we'll never be able to carry them," he said, helping Adam up. "But it's not a big deal. Naked bodies are kinda normal in this world. Besides, we don't have to go through the castle proper. We can just fly up to the window.
In agreement, they took off, hand in hand. Adam could see for miles and he lingered in the air, overwhelmed with wonder and trying to commit it all to memory. It was like a painting, rich and vibrant with color. The air smelled clean with just a hint of the ocean.
"It's something, huh?" Tommy said with a grin as he looped through the air.
"It's...yeah," Adam couldn't put it into words. But there, hovering high above the trees with Tommy at his side, Adam felt it - a connection, the revival of his soul after being on tour so long. He grinned back at Tommy, rejuvenated and ready to continue on the path that had been set before him.
~~~~~~~~~~
Showered and dressed in the pixie sized clothes that had been waiting in their room, Adam stood on the bathroom counter, gazing at his reflection in the mirror.
He looked the same but smaller and with wings. But, comparatively, Adam still towered over Tommy. He turned around, watching his wings flex and sway. Smiling, he wondering how he could make that happen on stage and whether The King would consider working a little magic.
Tommy fluttered over to stand behind him, still dripping from the shower.
"I can't believe the rooms are outfitted for pixies too," Adam said, watching Tommy dry himself with cloth. The shower had had small controls, drying cloths and tiny vials of sumptuous soaps and shampoos.
"The People come in all shapes and sizes," Tommy said with a shrug. "The castle is enchanted to provide a space for everyone within its walls, no matter how big or small."
They finished dressing and made their way down to the castle proper and into the large sitting room that served as a lobby for castle visitors. Hand in hand, they were flying toward the bailey when Adam heard a familiar voice.
"Well, it's about time you two got your asses out of bed."
Adam turned around, shocked to see Brad flying toward them, Jon at his side.
"Brad?" he said, taking in his friend's transformation.
"Looks like we’re not the only ones to whom the King bestowed a gift.” Brad grinned and hugged Adam. They spun around in the air, laughing.
“Look at you,” Adam exclaimed, circling Brad. His wings were fuchsia and sparkled as they fluttered. “Why am not surprised that your wings are pink?”
Brad made a face but Adam noticed him staring wistfully at Tommy and Jon as they hugged. “So…what’s going on?” Adam asked. “I didn’t get a chance to ask last night. Are you and Jon together?”
Brad smiled and looked back at Adam. He wobbled his head, a little unsure. “We got close when you were away. He would come over to dictate emails to Tommy but we talked…got to know each other. He’s an amazing artist.” Brad shrugged, leaving Adam to imagine what had happened. He understood; he’d been in the same place with Tommy.
"But I thought that you and King Alberich..."
Brad waved his hand. "Once or twice. But his Highness has way too much on his plate to amuse me for too long. And Jon is...." Brad looked at Jon with a longing smile, "There is just something special about him. I can't explain it. He's challenging and gorgeous and smart and the boy can do things with his tongue…"
"I get it,” Adam laughed. “Have you guys decided what to do? I guess since the King gave you this gift that he knows about you two?”
Brad nodded. "I went to him as soon I realized that I was beginning to have feelings and found out that Jon had already asked for a trial as a human." He shrugged and squeezed Adam's hand. "So we have a lot to talk about I guess."
"Yeah, he wants to be a pixie and I want to be a human," Jon said, rolling his eyes as he and Tommy joined them.
“Exciting huh?" Tommy said; grinning as he twined his fingers with Adam’s.
"Who wouldn't want to be a pixie?" Brad said, stroking Jon's wings. Adam smiled when Jon's face went soft for just a moment before the sultry pout returned.
He rolled his eyes again but drew Brad close and kissed him softly. "Me," he said. "Besides, you'd miss your public."
Brad beamed, pursing his lips in a smile. "Yeah...I would," he admitted.
Adam laughed and shook his head. "I'm happy for you guys. But we have to go. We're headed to Tommy's parents for a visit while we're still pixies."
"What a coincidence, that's where we're headed!" Brad said with a conspiratorial sideways glance at Jon.
But Jon huffed and punched Tommy in the arm. "Come on, man, your Mom got word of your gift and is making dinner for as many people that can fit in the tree."
"Jon!" Brad exclaimed, rolling his eyes when Tommy punched him back and they took off, chasing each other through the doors.
Adam laughed. "Why is it that when they're together it seems like they regress a hundred years?'
Brad hooked an arm in Adam's. "Maybe they'll keep us young."
Adam snorted as they flew out into the bailey.
~~~~~~~~~~
Adam watched from across the room as Tommy threw back his head, laughing at something Jon had said. They were seated at his parent's hearth, telling stories and drinking. Tommy caught his eye now and then, offered him a secret smile, a promise of things to come.
Tommy's laughter filled Adam's heart with joy. And he smiled, still amazed that the glorious creature across the room was his.
"So, how is pixie life treating you, son?" Tommy's father Ronald sat beside Adam, handing him a mug of something warm and spicy smelling.
Adam breathed it in, raising an eyebrow, remembering the last time he’d drank something unknown.
"Just a little mulled hard cider," Ronald said with a chuckle.
Adam huffed a laugh and sipped, savoring the drink as it warmed him from the inside.
"It's been interesting, Sir," he said, leaning back in the worn and comfortable chair, feeling the lull of the warm fire and pleasant company. “It's been so amazing to see the world as Tommy has seen it all his life."
Ronald gazed fondly at his son, smiling but quiet. Finally, he said, "He's so happy...so...content. That's all I ever wanted.” He was silent a moment, watching Tommy laugh. “Thank you,” he said softly. ”For taking care of him…for giving him the things he needed out of this life”
Adam patted him on his back, avoiding the whispery flutter of wings, gold, like Tommy's. “Everything Tommy has he accomplished on his own, by the merit of his talent and his heart. I consider myself lucky that he shares himself with me.”
Ronald looked at Adam, staring him in the eye. Finally, he nodded with a friendly smile and Adam felt his contentment, his acceptance. "Working on a new album then?" Ronald asked, changing the subject.
~~~~~~~~~~
"Are you sure you have clothes?" Tommy's mother asked, smoothing a hand through Tommy's hair.
Tommy sighed but smiled. His mother had been ecstatic to see him but had grown anxious as the evening wore on.
"Our bags are still at the castle," he said lightly, hugging her. She started to cry and he kissed her temple.
"Come on, Mom," he whispered. "It'll be all right."
She sniffed and nodded but clung to him. "I know. I'm so proud of you. I hope you know...I love you."
"I love you too." Tommy closed his eyes and smiled, swallowing the lump in his throat. He glanced at the clock on the wall and patted his mother's back. "We have to go; I don't want to be inside in case the spell wears off."
They flew through the kitchen door to find the family crowded around the base of tree. Adam took his hand with a smile.
"Take care of each other," Tommy's Mother embraced Adam, kissing both his cheeks.
"Always," Adam said softly, hugging her back.
Tommy could feel a wave of grateful energy and realized that Adam was thanking her, showing her how much he appreciates her son.
She patted his cheek and with a final hug for Tommy, seemed to gather herself together. "Now, you boys better get yourselves back to the castle. I can't have you running around the forest naked."
Adam and Tommy shared a heated look as they recalled the night before.
"Bye, boys; we'll see you soon," his Dad said with a chuckle, pulling Tommy in for a tight hug.
They parted company, escorted by a band of merry lightening bugs as their family waved and cheered them goodbye. Hand in hand, they flew to the castle to await their transformation.
~~~~~~~~~~
"That was so unreal," Adam said softly, caressing Tommy's back where his wings had been just moments before.
Tommy looked up to meet Adam's gaze in the bathroom mirror. He grinned and nodded, packing his toiletries. Adam smiled, thinking how much Tommy's beauty regimen had expanded since they’d met.
Tommy turned around and wrapped his arms around Adam's neck. "It was. But do you know what my favorite part was?"
Adam kissed his neck, nibbling a wet trail to his ear. "The erotic aerial sex?" Adam growled, the warmth of his breath on his neck making Tommy shiver.
"Hmmm....yes but not exactly. It was sharing everything with you. Flying...dinner with my family, at the table where I grew up." Tommy shrugged and smiled. "I've never for a moment regretted making the decision to be human. But today, I was happy to share a bit of my past with you - my future."
Adam looked into his eyes. "It means the world to me to have shared it with you," he said softly, hoping that Tommy understood.
Tommy smiled, and Adam could feel his love. "Come on," Tommy said. "I have one more thing to share with you before we go back home.
The flow of energy around Tommy had suddenly turned excited, like a child anticipating the jingle of Sleigh bells on Christmas Eve.
Adam followed Tommy into the bedroom. "Oh yeah? What's that?" he asked, reaching for his bag so they could dress.
But Tommy just grinned and shook his head. "It's a surprise," was all he would say.
~~~~~~~~~~
Adam followed Tommy through a large, gilded door that was flanked by two liveried guards. He'd never been to the King's chambers before and was in awe of the finery. They were ushered into a parlor by a man Adam thought might be an elf.
"His majesty will see you shortly," the elf, said bowing politely.
“Thank you, Rhen,” Tommy said, plopping down on one of the plump sofas near the roaring fireplace.
Adam couldn't help but gape. In shades of rich burgundy, the room was comfortable and cozy. But the cherry wood and gold accents gave it a polished and luxurious edge.
"Look at those book shelves,” Adam whispered, looking at the floor to ceiling cherry shelves. “Are they spell books?"
"Yes and no," King Alberich answered, entering the room with a grin. “Some spell books, cook books, fiction. I am a huge Anne Rice fan," he said, beckoning them to stand.
Adam laughed and was greeted with a big hug. Tommy stood and was greeted similarly.
"I trust you enjoyed my gift?" he asked with a lascivious grin.
Tommy laughed. "You could have warned us. We could have wound up giving some unsuspecting People a show."
The King just shrugged. "Where is the fun in that? Now..." he turned to Adam. "I've had a request from a fan to meet you. And I was wondering if you might entertain a small meet and greet?"
Adam's stomach fluttered with pride. Tommy had told him that some of The People had followed his journey on American Idol and he'd seen recognition in the eyes of passers by. But Adam was always humbled by it.
"Of course, I always enjoy meeting fans," he said, nodding.
He caught the look on Tommy’s face and narrowed his eyes, curious. Tommy was grinning, his body humming with excitement. He was about to question him when the King put his arm around Adam's shoulder.
"King Boreas and his envoy are here concerning some goings on his territory and as my guests to celebrate the Winter Solstice. Word has spread that you have been welcomed into our family and King Boreas requested to speak with you. His young ones have followed your career and are very excited to meet you.
King Alberich guided him through a set of French doors and into a courtyard. Adam gasped as a rush of cool air greeted him. He looked down and realized he was wearing a beautiful woolen cloak.
He looked up into a Winter Wonderland. "What the..."
Snow was falling, covering the hedges and flowerbeds in a beautiful white blanket. There were lights in the trees, magical orbs that seemed to twinkle in the snow. Adam stepped forward into the stillness, the crunch of snow beneath his boot the only noise.
There was a noise in the distance, solid and sharp, like something heavy on the snow covered flagstone. Adam squinted into the snow, catching movement but unable to tell who or what was out there, waiting.
“Go on,” Tommy said softly. “It’s all right.”
Adam moved forward into the snow, pulling the cloak around his neck. He followed a path, barely visible, into a hedgerow, and stopped, stunned by what waited at its center.
Two unicorns, one bright white, one black as ink, frolicked, kicking up plumes of powdery snow. They were young, ponies - if that’s what young unicorns were called. Adam couldn’t breathe. He could only stand and stare.
“My children,” came a voice inside his head, deep and rumbling, surprisingly friendly. “Onyx and Opal.”
Adam looked up and into the serene gaze of an adult unicorn. He was black like his son, with vivid, violet eyes. Adam bowed, maintaining eye contact. He prayed he did the right thing. “King Boreas?” he asked.
“Indeed,” the King said, extending a hoof and offering Adam a bow in return. “Adam Lambert, my family is a big fan of your magic. And we thank you for your gift. It is my understanding that you have mated with one of The People and that he has chosen mortality. That he has chosen to spend his mortal life with you.”
There was no trace of condescension in the unicorn’s voice. Adam nodded, afraid to step closer. “Yes, Sir, he humbles me with his choice.”
Adam felt, more than heard, the unicorn’s chuckle. But before King Boreas could speak further, Adam heard two more musical voices in his head.
“Adam! Father, Adam is here!”
Adam grinned as the young unicorns trotted playfully through the snow but was horrified when they rubbed against him, remembering all the legends about unicorns and virgins.
King Boreas laughed. "Do not fear, Adam. No harm will befall you or the children. That is but a myth to prevent unwanted attention."
Adam relaxed and laughed as Opal rubbed her silky muzzle against his cheek. "We love your music, Adam," she said.
Onyx pushed his way in front of his sister. "We have followed you since American Idol," he said, excitedly. "Opal thinks you're an elf....are you an elf, Adam? Is that why you're here at the castle? What happened to your ears?" Onyx gently nibbled at the top of Adam’s ear, looking for the point that marks the ears of elves.
Adam laughed, overwhelmed and amazed. They were so soft, their coats thick, sleek and warm. He dug his fingers in and embraced them, let himself get carried away in their mirth.
"No, I'm not an elf," he said softly. "Just a man who likes to sing. But, I'm here at the castle because my...mate is...was...a pixie."
The unicorns stopped and exchanged a glance. "I told you Tommy Joe was fae!" Opal teased her brother, dancing and kicking up snow.
They know Tommy too, he thought.
"They know your whole band, Adam dear." A soft, feminine voice said and Adam looked up and breathed out in a rush, stunned at the beauty before him.
She was magnificent. Her coat blinding, brighter than the snow that lighted upon it. Her eyes shone like polished turquoise and were filled with peace and kindness. She looked into Adam's eyes and he could feel her smile.
"Mother look!" the children exclaimed, running to her, urging her closer.
Adam bowed and she returned it. "We thank you, Adam for sharing your gift. I am Arrorah, Queen of the Northern Herd"
He didn't know what to say but he bowed and managed. "It's an honor to meet you, Your Highness," he said.
"Look!" Opal cried! "It's Tommy Joe!"
Adam turned to find Tommy entering the garden wearing a similar cloak to the one he'd been given. It was black with a row of silver clasps down the front. Tommy was smiling, beaming, and Adam reached out to take his hand as the children fussed after him, asking him questions about his transformation and his life as a human.
"They are so curious," King Boreas rumbled, approaching to stand beside his Queen. He nuzzled her affectionately and she lowered her lashes.
"Humans fascinate them," she said. Adam didn't miss the note of hesitation in her tone.
"It's so sad that your kind has to be so cautious," Adam said carefully, understanding. Mankind could be terrible, brutal.
Aurorah met his gaze as though she looked into his soul. He felt a twisting in his chest, as though she were sifting, looking for something. Adam gulped, finding it hard to breathe. His skin felt tight and uncomfortable for just a moment, a terrible moment when he thought perhaps he’d said something wrong. But then it was gone and he felt her smile, warm and accepting. Adam held his breath as she approached.
"Perhaps," she said softly, "one day...it will not be so." Aurorah nuzzled his cheek, the warm, butter-soft suede of her muzzle making his eyes slip closed. She muttered something in a language he did not understand and stepped back.
Adam opened his eyes, catching the blue flame of magic that burned inside her gaze. He opened his mouth in wonder, watching with awe as it faded.
"A gift for you and your mate," she said, touching her nose to Adam's neck.
He looked down to find a necklace of black onyx and white opal beads around his neck. It hung down on his chest with a pendant of onyx, a white opal at its center. He touched it gently, turned it over in his hands. The stones were cool against his skin and seemed to gleam with energy.
"It's beautiful," he breathed. Tommy approached at his left, long fingers threaded through his own necklace. The children had quieted and were watching their mother.
"Black Onyx will ground you and protect you from negative energy. White Opal creates positive energy. It is the stone of hope," Aurorah said. She bowed her head, looking into their eyes. "In you we see hope."
Adam bowed in return. "Thank you," he said softly. "I hope someday mankind will live up to that."
Just then another unicorn came trotting into the garden, silver with dapples of black across his back. King Boreas huffed, plumes of breath steaming from his nostrils as he nodded.
"We regret that we can not tarry longer," he said.
"Awww, Father," the children moaned; but one look from Queen Aurorah silenced their complaints. Instead, they turned to Adam and Tommy and bowed regally. "Thank you, Adam and Tommy Joe," they said in chorus before trotting, through a door at the other end of the garden, their giggles a pleasant echo in Adam’s mind.
“Be well, Adam…Tommy,” Queen Aurorah said nuzzling them both on the cheek. “Next time we shall have more time for discussion.”
King Boreas nodded, taking them in. “Your gifts are vast,” he said, tone serious. “And your hearts are large. We are happy to call you friends. Mankind has a long way to go but we hope that with those such as yourselves to serve as models, they will one day find enlightenment.”
“We hope for the same, Your Highness,” Tommy said.
The King smiled at Tommy and looked at Adam, his head cocked to the side. Adam felt a flutter in his mind before The Kind said, “Tommy’s love for you is clear. Your faith and dedication to each other is in the very air around you. Do not despair and feel no guilt, Adam. He would have it no other way. And no amount of guilt would change that. He is yours and you are his.”
Adam glanced at Tommy to find his eyes curious and realized that the King had spoken to him alone. He smiled at Tommy and pulled him closer. “Thank you, Sire. I am honored by your friendship and your encouragement,” Adam said with a smile.
King Boreas inclined his head, huffed a steamy breath and then bid them goodnight. As the sound of his hooves faded into the distance, they stood together, fingers entwined. Adam had no words, only the warmth of Tommy’s breath and the soft silk of his skin.
He touched Tommy’s face, thumb stroking gently over his plump lips. The King was right; they belonged to each other. Adam hadn’t asked Tommy to give up his immortality. He’d given it freely and with out a backward glance. It was time that Adam stopped feeling guilty and accepted Tommy’s gift.
Adam bent to kiss him, gentle and sweet. He stroked the soft skin of Tommy’s neck and tipped his head back to deepen the kiss, taste the sweet cider and spice on his tongue. Tommy melted into Adam like a snowflake in his palm, pliant with arousal.
Tommy groaned, his fingers cold against the back of Adam’s neck. He could feel the lavender glow of their energy around them.
“I love you,” Tommy was in his mind now, natural - at home there, erasing all lingering guilt and filling him with love.
“Then marry me,” Adam whispered into mouth. “Marry me in front of everyone and the world and then marry me here, in your world, in your way.”
Tommy smiled, the sweet and sleepy smile he saved for Adam, and he kissed him. Adam opened for him, gave over to him until they were rutting and thrusting there in the snow.
“Take me home,” Tommy moaned into his mind.
“You didn’t answer my question.”
Tommy pulled back, laughing, holding Adam by the face. “Yes,” he said. “Always yes. In any and every way you want.”
“Really?” Adam asked, grinning.
Tommy shook his head and pressed his forehead to Adam’s. “Dumbass,” Tommy breathed, kissing Adam’s forehead, his nose. “To me, we already are married. But I would be honored to show the world and every magical being in the forest that I’m yours.”
Adam laughed and picked Tommy up, swinging him around. “And I’m yours,” he said, breathless as they fell together in the snow.
