nearly a decade has passed
and i am still here, standing
at the bottom of these endlessly
high
candy store shelves
crying over spilt orange mints and torn
wrappers

nearly a decade has passed
and we all now know that in 2010
everyone needs cell phones because
no longer
can we rely
upon the kindness of
strangers

nearly a decade has passed
i finally realize that my discs and nerves
will slip and pinch away
at me
until i am wholly
dismantled.
