I agree with both of you, including your reply to me Mari. But I also wanted to say that... it's difficult for me to watch a movie, to enjoy it, if I've read the book first.

I *will not* ever watch "Howl's Moving Castle" for instance because it was done in a Anime-type style and is almost alienly different from the book that I have in my imagination for it.

And "Hunt for Red October" I was actually reading that book -- not finished -- when I went to see the movie with a neighbor. I ended up not finishing the book because the movie stopped a few chapters before the end of the actual book!

I think I bowed to see the Harry Potter movies because I wanted to see what they would do with it. Granted, I liked them, but I didn't watch all the movies, just the first four I think.

As for the LoTR movies? I could never, ever get passed the first 50 or so pages so I never read them and loved the movies. I've tried so many times to read that series and just... can't do it.

So, yes, while I really enjoy movies and television, my first love will, and has always been, the written word. I love my imagination and I don't have to deal with criticism of it /chuckle.
