Brendon's one consolation is that Ryan hasn't yet resorted to glitter. Yes, glitter is cool, shiny and bright and all that. But the only thing Brendon thinks of is the way his third grade teacher, Mrs. Stein, would say "Don't get any in your eyes. You'll cut yourself."
And sure, it comes off nice and it's definitely sound advice. But Mrs. Stein was old and mean and Brendon has always secretly thought that she would like it if just one of them accidentally got a little glitter in their eye.
It would have made art just a little more exciting, that's for sure.
Luckily, Ryan hasn't gone there yet. Brendon doesn't want to have to be the responsible one on the bus, the one reminding everyone not to touch their eyes with the glitter. He'd much rather leave the responsibility to Spencer and even Jon when he feels like it.
Plus, the gigantic lack of glitter makes it easier to smudge his fingers through Ryan's makeup following the show. Through birds or spirals, Brendon pushes the colors together and makes new shades of blue, red, black.
It makes it easier for him to press soft kisses against Ryan's cheek, eyebrow, his temple. And it doesn't matter if he pulls away, ends up as colorful as Ryan. As long as he doesn't have to worry about glitter in his eyes.
