I survived my first year of teaching!  Today was the last day.. it was a 10:45 dismissal.. I had no kids show up today and it was wonderful!  As the  kids were walking out the door today, our Principal started playing the "Hey, hey, hey, Good Bye" song.  You could hear all of the teachers singing right along with it.. it was funny.  then when our principal announced at 1:00 that we were free to leave you could hear cheering throught the entire building- we got to leave 2.5 hours early!  It was a good last day.

I survived. I am going back next year (more than likely in the same position), and I'm completely ok with this.  This still feels right.. it's the most challenging thing I've EVER done in my life, but I have learned so much this year.

Now, on to my car. I'm ready to drive it off the pier. Lets make a long story short- 2 months ago, I put $1500 into it (brakes and a whole bunch of other crap).  Then last Thursday, I got off the highway, and my car basically stopped shifting and my speedometer died- $500 later I get my car back.  Monday morning, just pulling out of the parking lot of my apt. complex and my brakes went out! So, I had to turn around and park the car, got mom and dad to help me with phone calls (because I had to go to work- one of my coworkers picked me up) and stuff.  So, another $400 later I got to pick my car up.  :-(  My car is only worth $2000.

I'm going home Thursday! On Friday, weather permitting, I'm going out fishing with my dad and then CAR SHOPPING!  I'm buying a new (or a "new" used) car. I can't deal with mine anymore.  Fortunately my dad knows some people at a local dealership very well (he was even in a commercial for them a few years ago) and they are going to help me out. They sales manager said he'd give me between $1500-$2000 for mine on a trade in- which is awesome.  So, I'm getting MY first car- all my other ones were hand me downs. I'm excited about this, but I'm not excited about getting my first car payment.

I'm SO ready to enjoy my summer!
