Arghhhhhhh! I thought it was a one-shot! No, I didn't. I went in knowing the word numbers you've been throwing around lately, but I got so caught up in the story that it felt like you slammed the door in my face when I looked down and saw the end of the post. Ouch, woman!
I adore everything about this one - the set up, your wonderful L/N, the ass kicking banter, the expert weaving of HP lore into this story and bringing this world back to life again and the really ANNOYING way you keep me hanging on by my fingertips waiting to find out what's going to happen next.
The connection between L/N is a grand one. They are so beautifully snide and bewitchingly clever with each other that I can't help but be seduced by their chemistry. Damn, woman, you do write a fine story and I've missed it so much! Thank you for writing this and double thanks for posting it so I can stay up and write an inadequate review way past my bedtime. Who needs sleep when I can read Peki perfect fic? *hugs*
Oh nooooooo! I deleted my second comment because I was trying to keep it in one thread and now I've erased it. *headdesk* I should have just gone to sleep.
I forgot to tell you how much I liked the Imperius curses. They were brilliant! And "That she was resisting so hard felt vaguely insulting." was so Malfoy that it touched my little black heart.
This made me laugh out loud (which is something I NEVER do when reading): "That was Portia, too shrewd for her own good sometimes. Goyle should consider himself lucky; the girl wasn’t exactly easy on the eyes, but if she had her way with Goyle, she’d elevate their offspring’s level of intelligence from village idiot at least to halfwit. And thank you for making her smart. I don't know if it means anything, but I'm going to keep an eye on her.
Okay, going to try this one more time. Success or failure be damned. I'm going to bed regardless of the outcome!
Bwahaha! No it's not a one shot, sorry! But I'll put up the second chapter later, which will conclude the Hogwarts era, so it's kind of a finished part.
Thank you so much for reading. I know this isn't your OTP (I may have something in the pipeline for D/G too btw). I love writing these two and I love seeing the ghost of Draco rising somewhere in their combined personalities. It's so fun to imagine this era of the HP universe and how it led down the path of the book canon.
The fun about L/N is that they can be contrary with each other, but unlike with Draco/Ginny, there's a core of shared experiences and values there that makes their chemistry quite sweet to me. They are school sweethearts! Or they will be eventually...not to say there isn't a lot of shit to come ;) Anyway, onwards! I hope to not be annoying and conclude this soon, haha! Thank you so much!
PS: I'm glad you like the background characters, I always find those really hard to write.
Also, I love how we're all messing up our posts on lj like old people trying to navigate the internet for the first time ;) It really has been a long time!
