My parents were never shy about the topic to my recollection, but they were never proactive either. I suspect they think that if I needed to know anything, I would look it up for myself. (To be fair, I was reading adult fiction early in elementary school, and had my own copy of Philosophy in the Bedroom by age fifteen).

I can't recall any in-school education beyond medical diagrams of reproductive organs, but I also left high school after 10th grade. It may be that more was forthcoming.

My preference would be to eliminate (or at least minimize) the controversy with public school through school choice programs. Failing that, the compulsory classes should definitely teach the biological considerations (up to, and including, detailed information about fertility for the girls; a topic I agree with my wife whole-heartedly on), sexually transmitted diseases and at least a cursory treatment of prevention options (including a note that abstinence is the only perfect method, and likely acknowledging differing moral views on birth control if the topic is covered.)
