Well, my car qualifies for the "Cash fo Clunkers" program, so I took today off the house to go look for a new car. What a depressing thing to go and do. I can afford a cheaper new car, but most of them are just too damn small.
I checked out a Honda Fit, and there is literally not enough room for me to push the gas pedal and turn... my knees rub on the wheel, and I my knees are completely bent. I like the styling, and the overall features... but it is no good if I can not tun.
Next I checked out a Honda Civic... and if I want things I consider standard... like A/C and cruise control... I have to pay significantly over base. It does not take it far outside of my... but a little does count. So I put that one on hold. They did not seem much like bargaining in all honesty.
After that we went by the Ford dealership. They are buried in Fusions... and I can see why. The fuel economy sucks and they cost more than a civic. I am sure they would be more likely to make a deal, but if I have an automatic it costs me $1k right off the bat. There were a few Focus on the lot, but they are also one mpg short and about $2k too high.
Our last stop of the day was the Toyota dealership. I checked out the Yaris and Corolla, both of which I could not get my knees under the wheel. The Camry and Matrix are just too expensive once I get decent features on them.
So I am left with the civic as a possibillity, and nothing else. A bit annoying really. But I suppose I should hunt around online for some more options.
