The Drowsy Chaperone...

The Drowsy Chaperone = A+

not only was this show a satirical sendup of 1920's musical theatre, it was a love letter to the people who worship musicals as the primary artform of America. The songs were catchy, Bob Martin (Man in Chair) had us rolling in the aisles with laughter. There were points in it where I felt like I was at a comedy club rather then at the Ahmanson watching a musical. It was hysterical. Granted, there does need to be some work done in the ways of casting. Sutton Foster was incredible and she needs to stay! Georgia Engel was hysterical, although Edward Hibbert (the Wizard from the new Once Upon A Mattress on ABC) was mediocre at best. Troy Britton Johnson has the looks which Bob makes quite clear numerous times in the show, although we now know that he is not a tap dancer. Although, the show as a whole has IMMENSE potential, and it is as funny a show as I have ever seen!

much love!
