Episode Discussion: 4.08 "Ancient History"

Sep 04, 2012 20:24

I'm finally getting a post up before the episode airs! \o/

Here we are, just three episodes away now from the mid-season finale. What more will we find out about Sam? Will Peter decide to cross anymore lines for Neal, or is he really done with doing things 'off the book' for Neal? Time to find out! Share your thoughts once the episode is over. :-

I began to suspect that Barney Fife was a bent cop, interfering with the FBI operation to make sure the (real) criminals got away.

Didn't Alex give NYPD the tip both times, so that when she wanted to make her getaway all she had to do was lift both lots of loot from the NYPD evidence warehouse?

On the other hand, did Peter consider that arresting a member of the Greek government would certainly have diplomatic repercussions?

I think Peter would have arrested him and let the higher ups sort out his diplomatic status, except that with the loot gone he had no evidence.

Also, we now know that Neal's birthday is March 21. Or at least that's the date he claims.

Or the date his Mom and Ellen told him. Do people in Witness Protection get new birthdays as part of their new identities? Neal wouldn't have been old enough to remember his real birthday. (How bored must Peter have been to have been reduced to looking up horoscopes?)

Incidentally, re: the story Neal told Alex, it's a long time since there's been a tsar in Bulgaria. Does Mozzie have a time machine he hasn't told anyone about, or is Neal a secret supporter of exiled European royalty? It would fit with the romantic side of his character.

She probably did, but of course there's no way to prove it.

Pretty darned bored. But it gave us some amusing banter, so it's okay.

The last tsar of Bulgaria is still alive: His Majesty Tsar Simeon II of the Bulgarians. The tsardom was officially ended in 1946, but he never renounced his claim to the throne. His monarchist claims notwithstanding, he was elected Prime Minister in 2001, serving until 2005.
