2008 WOWPS Season Info
The dates for the preliminary qualifying slams for the 2008 Women of the World Poetry Slam (WOWPS):
Weds. September 26 (2 & 3 minute round)
Weds. October 17 (1 & 4 minute round)
Weds. October 24 (2 & 3 minute round)
Weds. November 28 (1 & 4 minute round)
Weds. December 19 - Grand Slam to determine the WB WOWPS representative (3, 2 & 1 minute rounds)
- This utilizes the cumulative point system that we have been using for years:
4 pts. for 1st place
3 pts. for 2nd place
2 pts. for 3rd place
1 pt. for 4th place
- Top 8 scoring poets in the season's pool go to the Grand Slam, just like every other WB season.
- The no-repreat rule extends through the Grand Slam...no repeats in entire season, not even the Grand Slam!
This means that if you slammed in every prelim slam, made it through both rounds of each, then made it to the Grand Slam, you'd need 11 poems.
