I wouldn't assuming I could. After all to change an event in history would mean altering the fabric of existence and while that is a nice thought in theory not only are the consequences unpredictable the power it would take to do such a thing is well... a lot. I mean if one had that power how would they control it and it not control them leaving them to the fate which was destined in the first place and assuming one could control it, to change something is to erase the motivation for changing it in the first place....
But if I had to chose I would say the sinking of the Titanic, it would not only change the regulations of marine voyages until another tragic sinking made them think about it... like its sister ships tragic end which may or may not have occurred depending on the situation of the crew and precautions that may or may not have been taken if a different captain was in place... the people would have gone about their lives as normal with Margaret Brown never using her fame to become an advocate and the infant never grew up as a sort of celebrity ect... and we would be less many of novels, musicals, plays, and movies not to mention that James Cameron flick that is being re released in 3d for the 100th anniversary of the sinking...
