Can you ever call an online friendship a real friendship?? Why or why not??

I think it can be. I think it depends on how real you are with the other person and how real they are with you. I have online friends that I would consider real friends.

I've had more family (and my supposed "best" friend) lie to me face to face than my dear online friends...

I sometimes wonder if it's easier to like people and be friends online simply because you don't have to be exposed to annoying habits that will inevitably come up in real life. It doesn't mean the person is hiding their true self online, but it sure doesn't show everything about them, either.
