Werder Bremen. Pre-game Yada Yada: Bayern München. Leftback Defender Sit - a comparison

Sep 11, 2010 02:34

As it looks, Werder is going to field these young fellas tomorrow...

Wiese
Fritz - Pasanen - Prödl - Silvestre
Frings -- Bargfrede
Wesley/(Almeida) ---- Hunt ----- Marin
-------------Austronaut

And Thanks but No Thanks to Boro.

It makes sense considering Pasanen is a CB rather than a LB. Yet again it would also mean TS thinks Boenisch is really weaker/rubbisher compared to Pasanen. For intially I thought he would line up more like that...

----------------Wiese
Fritz - Silvestre -Prödl - Boenisch

Granted, Boenisch looked, um, indisposed against Robben or Müller...last time around. Here is just a little reminder of how it all happened according to me

Since we are at it, I figured, I might just as well list all the current LB's in Buli to get us all on the same page - and then we could compare their pro's and con's, their awesome skills or lack thereoff, their tansfer values and their adequacy and general state of all things leftback. Since people usually like to say rather trite things like "KATS are the worst managers ever and should pronto spend a shitload on a decent leftback!" (or something along the lines)

Since this one

scored his second (!) own goal in a row(!)*is he chasing some weird record?* these days -- and generally seems not amused about the current state of affairs at this club and its ramshackle of a defense, I thought I might start of with Schalke then :)

Schalke : Hans Sarpei (34) (transfered from Bayer Lev/played f Ghana this WC) 400.000 Euro / rated 4.0/2 this season and 3.50/20 last season on Kicker. The more showy expensive transfer being of course Metzelder, a total fail so far. EDIT: Sarpei scored a 5.00 for his game against Hoffenheim, oh well... ;)

Bayern München : Diego Contento (19) / well, BM saved 20 Million Euro for VG/Hoeness both seemingly opted to not spend any moneyz on a more flashy/expensive subb, he comes from their own youth academy / 3.5 rating on Kicker so far / 3.17/9 last season. His current transfer value below one Mio Euro. Bayern is really fielding young talent this season (well, let's wait for the next transfer window, then...) they even bitched with my pony Demichelis (not in the team selection O_o, drama aheads!)to give Badstuber a fair chance! Well -- maybe it's only cause they already have someone eyed and ready for the next transfer period, me being cynical here -- or they really like to get more popular in the ranking of Europe's most popular clubs ( ranked fifth - moving up 4 postiotns from last year, Werder Bremen 26th / HSV 25th)... Young guns from their own youth academy really payed off compared to tother European club's pricey transfers last season. RealInterwhateveryunameit)

BVB : Marcel Schmelzer (22) he is part of that successful U21 Europameister team, comes from BVB's own youth / 3.25/2 rating / last season 3.40/28

VfL Wolfsburg : Marcel Schäfer (26) was rumoured to transfer to Atletico *to join a fuckfest wth diego forlan?* but used to play for 1860 München and was called by Jogi here and there. 4.0/2 // 3.78/32. His current transfer value is given as 3.5 Mio Euro

Bayer Leverkusen : Michael Kadlec (26) / 4.25/2 // 4.05/23 (well, as it looks, letting Sarpei go to Schalke seemed like weakening their defense -- again, here the publicity-stunt transfer was of course Ballack - rather costly...)

HSV : Denis Aogo (23) /Marcell 'Scorpio' Jansen (25). The first had the sicks so far and the latter was rated this season but had the sicks last season and got only 3.07/16 games - most of them as a winger though. Last season, Aogo scored 3.97/31... Aogo is from their onw youth academy. And Marcell transfered after a brief one year stint at Bayern Munich *Frings and Boro take notes* in 2007 to HSV and is currently rated 10. Million Euro, Aogo is rated 7 Mio Euro. Notice some of a possible future transfer sum belongs to that shady investor Kühne, he holds stakes in them for he gave HSV 12 Mio Euro this year to spend on transfers (Kacar, Diekmeier, Westermann).

Hoffenheim : Christian Eichner (28) formerly played for KSC until 09, not rated so far // 3.25/25
Transfer value roughly 2 Mio Euro / Marvin Compper (25) is their main LB 3.78/32 last season and 3.50/3 so far. He joined the team in 2008 after playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach. Transfer value 4 Mio Euro.

Borussia Mönchengladbach : Filip Daems (32) 3.25/2 so far // 3.88/18 last season. He joined 2005. Jaures was filling in for him last season 4.20/16.

VfB Stuttgart : Christian Molinaro ( ) 5.00/2 // 3.24/17 I forgot who took his position the season before. His worth is currently 5 Mio Euro. As is Cacau's for some reason...

Anyway -- I could go on here but I think the most crucial ones have been covered so far.

Now let's take a look at Werder Bremen: Sebastian Boenisch (23), U21 E Cup winner / as a subb of sorts Perti Pasanen (30), a CD by training (3 Mio Euro) / and for a short while we had that Tunesian Abdennour (4.58/6). Boenisch did cost us 3.5 Mio Euro and is worth 4.5 as of now. Boenisch got rated 4.0/1 so far and last season 3.72/17 Pasanen on the other hand 3.59/19 last season. 3 assists and 3 scorer points - as did Boenisch.

Bottom line then? Ideally we would have a talent in our own youth, but since we transfered Silvestre (well, he was out of a contract, so we did not really pay a transfer fee) and so far none of Werder Bremen II players amde the cut in the first team as a LB, it seems Boenisch is as good as it gets. But now Silvestre, once Per & Naldo, the towers of eternal wisdom and awesomenss are back, might get better! Let's see. I will def keep up this little list of mine and would welcome any comments or improvements on it!

As for tmrws game -- it comes with too many unknowns (Wesley/Silvestre/no Pizz/no Merte/no Naldo/no Boro *um, well, that is actually not an unknown, rather a known unknown ;)*) -- I hope we can counter attack every here and there and strike nicely. Let alone from this ones...

... um, rather convincing work against the ball (defendig and challenging) plus his ball possesion AND his general breathteaking physique (it soo hurts) I would be tempted to go for a tie. But don't quote me on that.
Have some nekkidass

He approves ;) EDIT: Van GAaal also approves! Wow, hear what he had to say on the subject of our supersonicrocketship Austronautovic:
Van Gaal: „Er hat den Durchbruch geschafft. Er ist physisch stark. Links wie rechts stark. Er ist ein sehr schlauer Spieler, der auch eine gute Technik hat.“ (Source BLÖD)
