Japan-Expo report

Jul 06, 2009 19:38

You knew this was coming :P

Since I was only going for one day, I took my Friday off so I could see if there is less people there during weekdays than during weekends (the answer is: hardly). It was the occasion for us siblings (me, big brother, little sister, little brother) to do something together for a day (we don't do that very often anymore). I also manage to meet a friend from work and we spent some good time together... Overall the organization of the day went pretty smoothly, except that I didn't manage to see aresky ;_;

Basically, we just went shopping all around the con, then in the middle of the afternoon we found a free table far enough from the restaurants to be left alone, and we made it our operation center with some of us lazing around to watch our bags, chat and hunt down cosplays passing by, while the others would travel a bit around. It was the comfiest Japan-Expo ever.

I didn't take any picture of the surroundings because it was exactly like the other years.

Because it was the 10th anniversary of the con, there was an exposition with all the drawings made by guests during all these years:

More guests:

Some fans had recreated scenes from Saint Seiya with action figures (my brother and I used to have Seiya and Shiryu when we were kids...):

And speaking of action figures...

*dies*

And then I died of lol, because there's going to be Twilight action figures:

Aaaand... cosplay time!

A crossover waiting to happen.

This nurse was amazing, all jerking and twisting like a real one. It attacked us while we took the picture :3

That's from vampire Knights, right? This uniform was absolutely everywhere. Never felt so out of the loop, I must getting too old :(

Lots of KH cosplays this year <3

Now that's the first time I see Cait Sith cosplayed.

Lulu looks scary but I keep it because they made such a cute couple!

Another Harribel.

Zero you pimp.

It was funny to meet this Naruto, because when we entered the con the morning, we saw him outside hastily spray-painting his Rasen Shuriken :D It can't really be seen here, but the center of the shuriken glows.

This guy must have been dying from the heat... Cosplayers are crazyyyy~

We caught this one in the train station. I have to finish the manga of Samurai Deeper Kyo one day... Hotaru was my uber favorite character.

Unrelated, but ROFL, someone was getting tired of the insane amount of free-hugers in this con:

FYI that how the train station looks at closing time:

And finally, the result of my looting:

The nice thing when you buy manga directly from the editors in cons is that you always get goodies. It cracks me up that the Excalibur mouse pad is so annoyingly small it's unusable, pretty much like the character XD

By the way, if you ever doubt you should read Otomen, I hope that the epic awesomeness of this cover has converted you promptly.

More stuff. The FF figures are for a gift...

Fanart cards. The Pikachu/Companion Cube is win, and I can't believe I manage to run across some South Park <3

Totally unrelated, but so far I'm pretty satisfied with my project... even if I didn't have the time to make much progress during this weekend >.>
